North Cape maritime and upper secondary school was a gift to Honningsvåg from the people of Oslo In 2005 we celebrated 50 years of service to the population of Finnmark. Today more than 240 students attend the school and a further 200 students attend the school via distance learning over the internet.
North Cape Maritime and Upper secondary school is primarily divided into 5 different departments: Maritime college Upper secondary Vocational education college L.O.S.A (education in cooperation with industry and commerce) North Cape Simulators (commerce activity including international projects and maritime education and training-centre)

North cape The island with fishing villages: Honningsvåg Kamøyvær The North Cape municipality s area consists of Magerøya island and the mainland around the mouth of Porsanger fjord, in all 924 km2. In addition to the municipal centre Honningsvåg, there are four fishing villages on Magerøya: Nordvågen, Kamøyvær, Gjesvær and Skarsvåg Repvåg Nordvågen Gjesvær Skarsvåg

VARDØ VIDEREGÅENDE SKOLE Facts: Owned and financed by the Municipality of Finnmark. App. 100 students. Employs 35 people. (Teachers, staff, technical personel and apprentices) App 35 40% of the students are from other parts of Finnmark. Specializes in seafood.

The Seafood Centre. Purpose: To use the schools seafood prosessing facilities and its staff of qualified teachers and seafood specialists in product development. Cooperate with the regional tourist industry. (Hotels and restaurants) Cooperate with research and development institutions.

Programs and projects: Continental chefs to Finnmark Project with chefs from Belgium and France. Vardø Videregående skole with six stars in the Guide Michelin. Project goal is to increase the quality of seafood served in hotels and restaurants in Finnmark. Hotels and Restaurants from Northern Norway and Russia has participated. Seafood in the kindergarden National seafood awareness program in Norwegian kindergardens. I cooperation with the Governor of Finnmark. Project goal is to make children eat more seafood. Teaching Kindergarden staff to make delicious children friendly seafood. App. 150 kindergarden employees has participated in the introductory courses.
