Considered one of the Roman Empire s most impressive works of engineering. It was built at the end of the 1st century and was in use until the middle of the 19th. It is comprised of 166 stone arches on granite ashlars, set with neither cement nor mortar. They remain standing to this day thanks to an ingenious technique based on balancing forces. Enter the Alcazar fortress. Standing between the confluence of the Eresma and Clamores rivers, the first documented record of the fortress dates back to Christian writings in the 12th century. It was built on top of a rock, a testament to its original military status. The edifice has a number of secret passageways that lead to the river and connect several of the city s palaces. Enter the Cathedral, known as the last gothic cathedral built in Spain. Built at the highest point of the town, construction of the cathedral of Segovia began in the year 1525, during the reign of Carlos V. At the end of the day, drive back to Madrid. Tonight, enjoy an authentic Flamenco show over a surtido de tapas. Overnight accomodation in Madrid. DAY 10: RETURN (Sunday) Transfer to Madrid airport for your return flight home. Hasta luego y buen viaje!
EXCHANGE PROGRAM An exchange program is an excellent alternative to the classic programs as it offers the opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a different culture, practice and improve their knowledge of a foreign language in addition to making friends. The Exchange Program is organized between Academy of the New Church of Bryn Athyn and Colegio La Purísima Franciscanas of Valencia. The conditions of this exchange are agreed between the two schools. COLEGIO LA PURISIMA FRANCISCANAS Av. de les Tres Creus, 49, 46018 València, Valencia, España http://lapurisima.hfi.es/ HOSTING A FOREIGN STUDENT When participating in a Spanish exchange, families are expected to treat their guest in the same manner that they would like their son or daughter to be treated by their exchange partner and their family when they participate in the other side of the exchange. This is the basic reciprocal agreement of the families and the exchange partner families. The main focus on the host family is to provide food and lodging to the foreign student. In addition, it is beneficial to the student if you as a family can spend time with them so that they get the opportunity to see how life in the USA compares to their life at home. The student exchange form provides a lot of information about your temporary guest including their likes, dislikes and usual family life along with personal information about allergies and emergency contact detail.
