Introduction to Luna Park 1 We are thrilled you have chosen to spend your day at Luna Park in Coney Island! This guide is designed to assist guests with cognitive disabilities including autism spectrum disorder. It s our mission to provide a safe, fun and inclusive family amusement park environment. We invite guests visiting Luna Park to review our Guide for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder in order to best plan your day at the park.
How to Prepare: 2 Review this guide in order to get the best overview of Luna Park and what to expect during your trip. Study the map in order to familiarize yourself with the area, and get an idea of your plan for the day. Choose a place on the map to meet in case you are separated. Be sure your family member is aware of the location and show it to them once you arrive. In case of emergency or separation at the park, immediately inform a Luna Park Representative. Practice waiting in line either at home or at the grocery store, school etc.
What to Bring: 3 A bracelet or name-tag with the guest name, any companion s name, a contact number, and any other important things to know. Ear plugs or headphones to help relieve all of the loud noises in the park from rides, games, and other guests. A favorite device or activity such as a tablet, video game, book, or anything that may distract the guest during a visit to the park. Reinforcements for good behavior that motivate the guest throughout the day at the park, such as a favorite snack. A sensory toy like a stress ball or calming item.
Admission to the Park 4 Luna Park is an admission-free, open-gate amusement park. This allows individuals to pay for only the rides or attractions they are able to or choose to participate in. We do not offer refunds to guests who purchase tickets, credits, wristbands or any other Luna Park promotion. Luna Park s main entrance at 1000 Surf Avenue is ground-level and wheelchair accessible. Pathways with ample room to accommodate wheelchairs are present throughout the park to allow guests with cognitive disabilities including autism spectrum disorder to access food stands and most rides or attractions. Boarding and Accessing Rides and Attractions Luna Park is dedicated to doing everything in its power to provide appropriate accommodations to guests with cognitive disabilities including autism spectrum disorder who wish to enjoy our amusement park. For your safety, in any case where conditions are inappropriate and/or dangerous for use, riding may be prohibited. Luna Park Representatives have the final say as to whether or not a ride or attraction is safe to board for individuals. Luna Park Representatives have the final say as to whether or not the ride or attraction can safely accommodate the guest with cognitive disabilities including autism spectrum disorder. Luna Park Representatives are not permitted to assist in physically transferring guests to and from rides or attractions. 5
Safe Riding Options for Guests 6 Luna Park Guest Assistance Pass - With any purchase, a Luna Park Guest Assistance Pass is available for guests with cognitive disabilities including autism spectrum disorder, who cannot otherwise navigate queues. To be issued a Luna Park Guest Assistance Pass, guests should go to Guest Services near the main entrance of the park upon arrival. Guests with cognitive disabilities including autism spectrum disorder riding with companions may wait in a nearby alternative location and are excused from standing in line. When the party reaches the front of the line, the guest may then join their group, entering through the ride s exit gate, and be provided a reasonable amount of time to board the ride or attraction. The guest to whom the pass was issued must ride in order for the party to take advantage of the Luna Park Guest Assistance Pass. If the guest with the pass chooses not to ride, his or her party must wait in line for the ride.
Safe Riding Options: The Family Option 7 With any Luna Park purchase, each guest who requires an accommodation will need his or her own Luna Park Guest Assistance Pass, which may accommodate up to four accompanying family members. At least one accompanying family member must be a responsible guardian willing and able to ensure compliance with all safety rules. One or more of the accompanying guests should be physically able to assist the guest with transferring on and off the ride or attraction if help is required. Luna Park Representatives are not permitted to assist in physically transferring guests to and from rides or attraction. The ease of each ride s boarding procedure varies, and must be taken into consideration when deciding which ride or attraction to participate in. Please observe the ride operation and the loading/unloading procedure before deciding whether the ride or attraction is appropriate for you.
Safe Riding Options: The Supervising Companion 8 A Supervising Companion must be a responsible guardian willing and able to ensure compliance with all safety rules and exhibits the appropriate maturity necessary to accompany the guest. With any Luna Park purchase, a Supervising Companion may be issued a Luna Park Guest Assistance Pass, available and issued at Luna Park Guest Services. In the event of a ride or attraction evacuation, the Supervising Companion must also be able to assist the guest during the evacuation procedures.
Guests of Certain Size or Stature 9 For the safety of our guests, all ride restraint systems, including lap bars, seat belts, shoulder harnesses, and the like, must be positioned and fastened properly and completely in order to ride. Due to the design of the safety restraint systems for certain rides, guests of certain size or stature may not be able to ride. Minimum necessary height requirements, are posted at each ride entrance for guest convenience.

We have moderate rides that climb high, move fast, and bounce for the daredevil in your party. Guests with Pre-Existing Injuries and Conditions 15 For the guests safety and enjoyment, individuals with the following conditions cannot participate in our rides or attractions: Guests with Cast, a Back or Neck condition, Heart Condition, a Recent Injury, Illness, or Surgery, High Blood Pressure, and those who are Pregnant. Luna Park Representatives have the final say as to whether or not a ride or attraction is safe to board for individuals. All riders choosing to participate in amusement rides or attractions in Luna Park accept any and all inherent risks.
Safety Signage Before participating in any ride or attraction, please note all of the safety warnings and signs that are posted at the entrance of each ride or attraction. These precautions are designed to best assist you in deciding whether or not to participate in each ride or attraction, based on your own, or your family member s abilities or conditions. Remember Luna Park Representatives have final say on safety decisions. 16
Parking for Disabled Guests 17 Luna Park does not have a dedicated private parking lot for visitors. Both metered and free parking are available along most streets. Regular New York City parking for motorists with disabilities rules apply. Guests may also find close and convenient commercial parking lots on West 17th Street at MCU Park and West 12th Street between Mermaid and Surf Ave, West 15th Street between the Boardwalk and Surf Ave and on Neptune Ave between West 12th and Stillwell Ave.
Restroom Facilities 18 Restrooms located within Luna Park are reserved for paying guests and meet required guidelines for guests with cognitive disabilities including autism spectrum disorder. Restrooms reserved for family use are located midway through the park by the Retail location and West 10 th Street side gate. Public bathrooms maintained by the city may also be found all along the boardwalk.
First Aid Our First Aid Station is located adjacent to the front entrance of Luna Park and is staffed at all times during park operating hours by trained medical personnel. For questions about medications and on-site equipment, contact us ahead of time online or inquire upon arrival to the park. Guests requiring specific medications, such as an EpiPen or bee sting anaphylaxis kit, are urged to bring everything needed to the park with them and keep it in a place where it can be quickly accessed. In the case of a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately, in addition to alerting the nearest Luna Park Representative. 19
Service Animals 20 Service animals with appropriate paperwork are allowed within Luna Park. Service animals are limited to one per guest and all other animals are prohibited. Dogs or any other service animal trained to assist persons with disabilities must be fitted with an appropriate restraining device and remain in the control of its owner (or a member of the party) at all times. Luna Park Representatives are not permitted to take control or responsibility of the service animal at any time. Service animals are prohibited on all Luna Park rides or attractions.
