NAU GAUDÍ. MUSEU BASSAT MATARÓ The Mataró Museum of Contemporary Art Consortium in which the Carmen and Lluís Bassat Private Foundation and Mataró City Council participate was established in June 2010 with the aim of contributing to the conservation of the collective heritage and the dissemination of knowledge represented by this heritage. It is an initiative which, based in Mataró, invests in the country s art and culture and which through the Bassat collection will help to explain the history of Catalan art from the postwar period up to today. The creation of the Mataró Museum of Contemporar y Art Consortium aims to be an example of partnership between public and private spheres, aligning the initiative and interests of both for the common good. The programme of exhibitions and activities at the Gaudí building, centre of the Consortium, should make it a place to enjoy the various expressions of contemporary art, and at the same time, in a space for development and education of people s sensibility and critical spirit.
