General information Place and Time The ISMSC 2015 will take place at the Palais des Congrès in Strasbourg, in the large room Erasme. On Sunday June 28 th the registration will take place between 13:00 and 18:00. The opening of the conference will be at 18:00 followed by the first plenary lecture. A welcome party will conclude the evening. The official language of the conference will be English. How to get to Strasbourg Useful information about Strasbourg and on how to get there can be found at http://www.en.strasbourg.eu/en/home-en/ Arrival By train: You arrive at the main station of Strasbourg. Buy a single fare at the ticket machines, cost: 1.60 Euro. The ticket machines are located directly on the platform. Attention you have to validate the tram ticket at the validation machines BEFORE you get on the tram! For the buses, you have to validate your ticket inside the bus. It is important that you re-validate your ticket anytime you change tram or bus! To get to the Palais de Congrés, alternatively: 1. Take Tram A (direction to ILLKIRCH-GRAFFENSTADEN - Illkirch Lixenbuhl) and get off at Homme de Fer. Take Tram B (direction to HOENHEIM Gare) from Homme de Fer and get off at Wacken. 2. Take Tram D (direction to Aristide Briand) and get off at Homme de Fer. Take Tram B (direction to HOENHEIM Gare) from Homme de Fer and get off at Wacken. 3. Take Tram C (direction to STRASBOURG - Neuhof Rodolphe Reuss) and get off at Republique. Take Tram B (direction to HOENHEIM Gare) or Tram E (direction to Robertsau Boecklin) from Republique and get off at Wacken. Once arrived at Wacken tram stop, walk back 100 m. You will see the Palais des Congrés at your right hand side.
By plane: The main airport is in Entzheim. In order to get to Strasbourg, take the train from the airport to main station Strasbourg and from there, proceed by tram (see above). You have to buy the train ticket in the airport (at the end of the airport before going on the outside path that leads to the train platform). There is a second airport close by, Baden-Baden airport in Germany, close to Karlsruhe. To reach Strasbourg you can take Ryanair shuttle (www.flightliner.de), timed with Ryanair flights, or bus to Baden Baden and then train to Strasbourg via Offenburg. You can also take Alsace Navette but you must book it at least 48 hours. A third possibility is the Airport Basel-Mulhouse: http://www.euroairport.com/fr/ Basel airport is not linked directly to the railway system, but there are connections by bus to Saint Louis Train Station, 10 minutes, (Exit France sector, on the left there is the bus stop, take Distribus shuttle no. 11). From Saint Louis take the TER train to Strasbourg Main station (around 1h20min trip). The forth possibility is Frankfurt Airport. Lufthansa has a shuttle service from there directly to Strasbourg Main Station and Strasbourg Hilton Hotel. Alternatively trains serve Frankfurt airport to Strasbourg via Offenburg (check the train schedule at: www.bahn.de) By Car: Parking at the Congress Center: Public free parking (250 car spaces) at the Palais de Congres. Just before arriving at the Palais de Congres take the small street behind the Hotel Mercure, close to the traffic light enter on the left side the yard (see map below).
Transportation in Strasbourg Many places in Strasbourg center can be easily reached by foot or public transportation. So we recommend leaving your car in the hotel parking/garage since the city is mostly pedestrian and parking might be difficult. The city offers a very efficient urban transport network by trams and busses connections. Complete information on the buses and trams connections and timetables you may find at http://www.cts-strasbourg.fr/ Meals Lunch will be served at the Palais de Congrés. Tickets will be provided free of charge in your conference bag. Please let us know early if you are vegetarian or you have special diet requirements. Weather and Outings Normally it is quite warm in June/July. So take summer clothes, but also a sweater for the evening to sit outside. However we also have seen quite strong rain or thunderstorms at this time of the year, so please take something against rain. Uploading presentations: Speakers are kindly asked to upload their talks in the computers in the lecture hall the day before or at the katest the session before your talk. Some of the technical staff will help you in setting and trying your computer/presentation. If your presentation contains movies
please upload them! Poster Sessions: Poster Sessions will take place in the Galerie Marbre located at the ground floor and in the Forum Hall located at the first floor. These two spaces are located just outside the conference hall (Erasme room). There will be two poster sessions: Session A will take place on Monday June 29 th between 18:30 and 20:30. Session B will take place on Wednesday July 1 st between 18:30 and 20:30. Please check, in the abstract book, the session and the number attributed to your poster. The posters should be appended the morning of the day of the poster session at latest, and removed by the evening. The best 5 posters will receive an award. During both poster sessions a light dinner and drinks will be provided. Social Events: Tuesday June 30 th starting at 16:30 will be dedicated to social events. Conference Banquet: If you have bought the ticket, a Gala Dinner ticket will be handed to you together with your badge. The Conference Banquet will take place on Tuesday June 30 th between 20:30 and 23:00 at the Pavillon Joséphine, located in the Orangerie Park. See Map for how to get there. Four shuttle busses will be arranged (two different departure times) for bringing you back with stops at the Hilton Hotel and downtown (Place Gutenberg). The ticket must be presented at the entrance of the Conference Banquet location.
