Kakadu National Park Entry Fee The entry fee for Kakadu National Park is $40 per adult (15 May-31 Oct) & $25 per adult (01 Apr-14 May & 01 Nov-31 Mar) and $20 per child (15 May-31 Oct) and $12.50 per child (01 Apr-14 May & 01 Nov-31 Mar) and is valid for 7 consecutive days. This is an additional compulsory government charge and is subject to change without notice. Batchelor The gorgeous town of Batchelor is the gateway to Litchfield National Park. Up until WWII, Batchelor was a sleepy little hollow. Then it became an allied air force base and the population grew quickly. When uranium was discovered near Batchelor in 1949, the town once again grew until the mine was closed in 1963. Today, Batchelor s townsfolk love to host visitors to Litchfield National Park and it s here that you can enjoy morning tea (own expense) at one of their local cafés. Litchfield National Park Established in 1986, Litchfield National Park is a truly stunning destination. Here you can take in the splendour of thundering falls, rainforest pockets and sacred historic sites. The traditional custodians of Litchfield National Park are the Wagait people, many of whom still call the area home. Termite Mounds The termite mounds found at Litchfield National Park are the incredible architectural works of local termites. Complete with arches, tunnels, chimneys and nursery chambers, the mounds will leave you mystified. Listen and learn as your Driver Guide explains the difference between Cathedral and Magnetic mounds. Wangi Falls Florence Falls View the spectacular double waterfalls of Florence Falls from a high vantage point before making your way down the stairs to take a dip in the gorgeous plunge pool, if you need to cool down a little. Head back up through forest and open woodland. There s also time for an interpretive walk through the scenic bush and monsoon vine forest. Tolmer Falls One of the three major waterfalls along the western face of the Tabletop Range, Tolmer Falls is a truly spectacular sight. You ll marvel at the water cascading down into the deep waterhole at the base of the falls, which is home to several colonies of rare ghost bats and orange horseshoe bats. Lunch at Litchfield Café Time for a well-earned break. As part of your tour enjoy lunch at Litchfield Café. Relax, enjoy the company of your fellow travellers and recount the morning s adventure. Travelling on one of the longest roads in Australia, the Stuart Highway, you ll see some of the most amazing terrain this country has to offer. When we turn onto the Arnhem Highway, the Marrakai Plains will provide a beautiful backdrop for your onward journey. Kakadu National Park Covering an area of more than 19,800 square kilometres, World Heritage listed Kakadu is the largest National Park in Australia. The combination of mangrove fringed coastal areas, expansive flood plains, lowland hills, open woodland and forest habitats make Kakadu one of the most diverse landscapes you ll ever experience. Be amazed at the population of wildlife in the water, on the land and in the air Kakadu is home to a myriad of animals, hundreds of bird species and thousands of different insects and plants. Marvel at the concentration of rock art sites that illustrates Aboriginal culture found at Kakadu, some dating back 50,000 years. Yellow Water Billabong Cruise Join your local guide for a cruise on the Yellow Water Billabong. The picturesque yellow water is home to thousands of saltwater crocodiles and up to 60 species of colourful birdlife. Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre The Bininj people are the traditional custodians of Kakadu National Park and after lunch in Cooinda we visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre to introduce you to their way of life, a must see for all visitors to the region. See artefacts and videos that illustrate stories the traditional owners wish to share with visitors, ranging from personal histories to bush tucker. Nourlangie Be mesmerised as you wander the Nourlangie rock art site. It provided shelter to indigenous people for many thousands of years and while taking shelter, the rock evolved into a canvas that illustrates their deep spiritual culture. The 1.5km walk around the base of the rock, led by your Driver Guide, gives you the opportunity to see many different forms of Aboriginal rock art. Optional Kakadu Scenic Flight Experiencing Kakadu from the air gives you a true sense of the vastness of this amazing landscape. Between June & November, this fabulous scenic flight takes you out over Arnhem Land and Dinosaur Valley, following the rugged escarpment along the boundary of Kakadu National Park. Your Driver Guide will keep you entertained along the way with stories about Australia s longest highway and the history of the region. Adelaide River War Cemetery Continue to the Adelaide River War Cemetery where you ll have time to stroll around the memorial. Dedicated to the many men and women who lost their lives in the north of Australia during WWII, this is a beautiful memorial, surrounded by lush gardens and native plants. Afterwards, stop for morning tea (own expense). Nitmiluk National Park Now we head into the amazing Nitmiluk National Park. Previously known as Katherine Gorge National Park, this park spans more than 292,000 hectares. With rugged landscapes, thundering waterfalls and unlimited flora and fauna, Nitmiluk is a haven for adventurers and nature lovers alike. The name Nitmiluk, meaning Cicada Place, came from the Jawoyn people who are the traditional custodians of the park. Leliyn (Edith Falls) The landscape at Nitmiluk National Park changes dramatically through the wet and dry seasons, but whatever the time of year, Leliyn (Edith Falls) always has refreshing water to enjoy. You can take a swim in the waterhole beneath the falls, among the paperbark and pandanus trees (seasonal). Edith Falls Aboriginal Rock Art The spirit and culture of the Aboriginal people is ever-present at Nitmiluk. Throughout the park you ll see original Aboriginal rock art that expresses in images this very deep spiritual culture. Buffet lunch in the Park Lunch will be served in the lush and shaded outdoor setting of the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre. Nitmiluk Visitor Centre Take some time to browse through the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre. The Display Centre and Heritage Museum features large scale models illustrating the flora, fauna and rock formations of the Park. Photographs, memorabilia and traditional Aboriginal artefacts are also on display. If you d like to purchase your own Nitmiluk memory, the Centre has a range of souvenirs and artefacts handmade by the Jawoyn people. Katherine Gorge Cruise A key highlight of your day will be the Katherine Gorge cruise. One of the most visited sites in Australia s Top End, Katherine Gorge is a stunning network of thirteen gorges carved from billion year old sandstone that are home to many rapids and falls flowing from the Katherine River. The two hour cruise will put you at the heart of Katherine Gorge among freshwater crocodiles, wonderful bird life and some of the most amazing scenery that the Northern Territory has to offer.

Bowali Visitor Centre After lunch you ll visit the park headquarters, Bowali, where there s free time to explore the numerous interactive displays, research library, theatres, art gallery and gift shop. Mary River Wetlands cruise Later, join a cruise on a wetland system that houses the world s highest concentration of crocodiles. You ll cruise east to west through the Mary River Wetlands. The abundance of food which sustains the large crocodile population also feeds a myriad of bird species, wallabies and water buffalo. The aquatic and land-based food chain found throughout the billabong system is something that has to be seen to be believed. Finish your cruise parked amongst a stand of sacred lotus lilies with a glass of sparkling wine and a fresh tropical fruit platter to complement the majestic surrounds of these internationally significant wetlands. Darwin Botanic Gardens The George Brown Botanic Gardens have survived numerous cyclones and the direct effects of World War II. Because the site extends inland from the sea to a plateau, it provides a range of planting environments and is one of a few botanic gardens in the world which has marine and estuarine plants naturally in its grounds. Not only will you have the chance to see some unique and exotic plants but even some local wildlife.
