2017 chair message Thank you for attending our festival! We hold this event annually to fund our Church Ministries, which support our wider community. Nearly two dozen Ministries work to enhance our own culture. Did you know planning for this weekend began last November? The Saint Demetrios Parish Council wishes to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the many people who make our Greek Festival possible each year. Thank you to our: Planning committee and organizers, Parishioners, Supporters, Outside vendors, Church staff and clergy year-round administrative and spiritual support. Our festival would not be possible without the ongoing support of our local businesses and member families who give their time, talent and resources each year. please note 1. The entire church campus, including the tent area, is a non-smoking facility. 2. No soliciting on church property. 3. No pets except for approved service dogs. 4. We reserve the right to refuse service. 5. In case of any emergency, please report it immediately to any staff member at the Tokens Booth or the Church Office.

university of washington hellenic studies program
The Hellenic Studies Program at the University of Washington was launched in 1998 thanks to financial support from the Hellenes of the Northwest. The Program covers the study of ancient, Byzantine and modern Greece, with a focus on Greek history, language and culture, as well as the Greek diaspora. Organized as an academic concentration in the context of the undergraduate degree program in European Studies, the Hellenic Studies Program is an interdisciplinary scholarly curriculum designed for students interested in acquiring a comprehensive knowledge of the Greek world, from antiquity to the present. The curriculum of the Hellenic Studies Program encompasses a broad range of courses in the disciplines of Classics, History, Art History, Comparative Literature, Classical Archaeology, Comparative Religion, Political Science and Philosophy, enabling students to study the Greek world in depth and from a variety of scholarly perspectives. Since the program first started offering courses in 2000-01, it has grown from 100 students enrolled in four courses to nearly 400 students enrolled in various courses, including one academic quarter of study in Greece. To support students, the program offers scholarships, writing prizes and other funding opportunities. In May 2015 the program hosted the Contemporary Greek Film Cultures Conference, which was attended by scholars from Europe and the US, and the internationally recognized Greek film director Athina Rachel Tsangari. To find out more about the Hellenic Studies Program and to learn how you can help, please visit the program s website (http://jsis.washington.edu/hellenic/).
