Sacred Heart in France Day 1: Thursday, June 19 th : Depart USA. (M) Meet your Tour Director at the Chicago, O Hare International Airport. Board your flight to France (with a connection). Enjoy meals and in-flight entertainment as you fly into European skies. Meals Legend: M = Airplane Meals B = Breakfast L = Lunch D = Dinner Day 2: Friday, June 20 th :: Arrive in France. (B, D) Arrive in Charles De Gaulle airport and after immigration and customs formalities, travel to the Capital of France, beautiful Paris. Enjoy a panoramic bus tour through the city. The highlight of our tour is the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal. Mass* is celebrated where Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal appeared to St Catherine Labouré (her incorrupt body is in the same chapel). After Mass, visit St. Vincent De Paul s remains at a chapel nearby. Afterwards, enjoy panoramic sights like the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, the Seine River with its famous bridges, and Les Invalides. Visit the legendary Cathedral of Paris, Notre Dame (Our Lady of Paris) and afterwards check-in at your hotel and enjoy a welcome dinner with your group. Day 3: Saturday, June 21 st : Paris all day. (B, D) Start the day with a visit to the famous Notre Dame des Victoires. Enjoy a tour of this historic Basilica and learn of its connection to St. Therese de Lisieux. Continue your visit of the Isle de Paris by entering the famous and beautiful Sainte Chapelle. This was the chapel of the King of France and it is most famous for housing the relic of the Crown of Thorns (only visible on special occasions). Afternoon at leisure. This evening climb the Mont Martre (Hill of the Martyr) to enjoy some of the most beautiful views of Paris. Then visit the Basilica of Sacre Coeur for Eucharistic Adoration. Afterwards, descend to the crypt of the Basilica for a talk by Fr. Kubicki followed by Holy Mass*. After Mass, walk to a classic Mont Martre restaurant for dinner together.) Day 4: Sunday, June 22 nd : Lisieux. (B, D) After breakfast, depart for Lisieux, home of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, copatron of the Apostleship of Prayer and youngest female Doctor of the Church. Visit the magnificent Basilica of Sainte Therese with chapels representing different countries of the world. Its crypt is adorned with beautiful mosaics and on certain occasions, the relics of Blesseds Louis and Zélie Martin (parents of St. Therese) are displayed. Then visit the Carmel of Lisieux, where three of Therese s sisters lived, as well as St. Therese herself, from April 9th, 1888 to September 30th 1897. She entered the Carmel as one of the youngest Carmelites ever, and died at the age of 24. Here is the tomb of St. Therese with a beautiful color statue reproducing the way St. Therese lay at her death. Visit Les Buissonnets, the Martin family house where St. Therese lived 11 years of her life. The house is preserved as if the Martins were still living there. Then see St. Peter s, the Cathedral of Lisieux, which still conserves the confessional used by St. Therese for her 1st confession. The Cathedral has a very interesting history dating back to the year 1149. Check in at our hotel for two nights in Lisieux and then join the group for dinner. Day 5: Monday, June 23 rd : Omaha Beach (Normandy), American Cemetery and Caen. (B, D) Depart for the beaches of Normandy to see the D-Day Invasion Landing Beaches, where thousands of allied soldiers fought to liberate France from the evils of Nazism. Many brave soldiers lost their lives here so afterwards we visit the famous and impacting American Cemetery, with thousands of tombstones in perfect formation. Holy Mass* will be celebrated here for the many souls of the buried soldiers, and also for the protection of the many men and women in our Armed Forces, wherever they are in the world. Travel to Caen to visit the Visitation Convent of St. Theres s sister, Leonie. Afterwards visit the Memorial Museum in Caen. Day 6: Tuesday, June 24 th : Paris to Lourdes: (M, D) Travel to Paris Montparnasse Station to board the famous TGV (Train a Grand Vitesse ~ Train of Great Velocity) to Lourdes, France. Upon arrival, enter the Lourdes Shrine for Mass*. A short orientation walk of the shrine follows. Check into our hotel and freshen up. Join your fellow pilgrims for a welcome dinner. Day 7: Wednesday, June 25 th : Lourdes all day. (B, D) Enjoy a special day in Lourdes beginning with Holy Mass* at the grotto (site of the apparitions - Mass* will be con-celebrated with other English speaking priests). Afterwards, you may opt for a personal day at leisure in Lourdes or join your escorts on a tour of the land of St. Bernadette, including the sanctuary and sites like the Mill, where St. Bernadette was born, and the "Cashot", where Bernadette s family lived. Our staff will also show you where the famous baths are located. Eucharistic Procession starts at 5:00 pm. After dinner at the hotel, join pilgrims from around the world in the candle-lit rosary procession. Day 8: Thursday, June 26 th Lourdes to Paray Le Monial. (B, D) After morning Mass*, our memorable visit to Lourdes ends as we embark on a journey through several beautiful regions of France on the way to Paray Le Monial. A spiritual program will be offered onboard. Upon arrival in Paray Le Monial, check in at your hotel and enjoy dinner with your fellow pilgrims. www.materdeitours.com Making Travel relevant Day 9: Friday, June 27 th (Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus): Paray Le Monial all day. (B, D) Enjoy a special day dedicated to the Sacred Heart. Holy Mass* requested at the site of the apparition of the Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, who s resting place we find inside this church. After Mass, walk to the church that houses the tomb of a Jesuit Priest who was St. Margaret s Confessor, St. Claude de la Colombiere. A talk by Fr. Kubicki is planned here. Rest of the day at Leisure to enjoy all the special activities at Paray Le Monial. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. Day 10: Saturday, June 28 th (Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary): Nevers. (B, D) This morning head northeast to Nevers, where St. Bernadette, the visionary of Lourdes, spent the last years of her life. Visit the Convent of St. Gildard where we can admire St. Bernadette s incorrupt body. After some time for personal prayer, Mass* is celebrated here. Afterwards, visit the backyard garden that was frequented by the saint as well as the small chapel where she was first entombed. After a visit to the convent s gift shop, return to your hotel at Paray Le Monial for dinner and overnight. Day 11: Sunday, June 29 th : Feast of Saints Peter and Paul) Ars and Lyon: (B, D) Depart for the City of Lyon this morning with a stop at the small village of Ars, where St Jean-Marie Vianney, the patron saint of priests, spent a great part of his holy life giving powerful sermons and spending up to 17 hours a day hearing confessions (sleeping only two hours a night). People would continuously flow into Ars from every part of France seeking his spiritual guidance and healing. The charity and love for people of this simple curate of Ars became famous all over the Christian world. He died in 1895 and his incorrupt body lies in repose, along with many relics from this saint, who was canonized in 1925. Our farewell Mass* is celebrated here. Afterwards, we continue onto Lyon for a brief panoramic tour. Check into your hotel for our last night together in France. Then enjoy a farewell dinner with your pilgrim family reminiscing all the memories shared together during this pilgrimage. Day 12: Monday, June 30 th : Return to USA. Board your flight at Lyon regional airport and as your plane takes-off, take one last look out the window at the unique landscape of these beautiful lands and say: Merci Sacre Coeur Merci Coeur Immaculeé de Marie Au revoir France Upon arrival in the USA, you will be processed by US Homeland Security. If a child will be traveling with adults other than the parents or with only one parent, it is highly recommended that a notarized letter be written by the parents or non-traveling parent granting authorization to travel, including the dates of travel. We suggest that you also contact the appropriate consulate and airlines because they may have additional requirements. Air Transportation: We have selected airlines that are most suitable with land arrangements. All fares are subject to government approval and are subject to change without notice. Airfares are guaranteed once they have been paid in full and ticketed. Name changes required after tickets have been issued are subject to cancellation and re-ticketing at a higher fare and subject to change fees. Some airlines do not allow you to earn frequent flier miles for group bookings. Airline Seating: Passengers who require specific seating due to medical conditions need to obtain Doctor s Orders so the airlines have proof of the condition and may accommodate the order. Passengers who desire a specific non-medical related seat are requested to contact the airline directly 30 days prior to departure for preferred seating. Group seating is solely under control of the airline. Voluntary changes to itinerary: Independent voluntary changes to an individual passenger s itinerary are usually not permitted by most of our tour suppliers. Some exceptions may be granted in a case-by-case basis. If passenger purchased a land only package, they are free to plan their own itinerary before or after the trip (read Land Only bookings for restrictions). All change requests must be made prior to 45 days before departure. Not Included: All items of a personal nature (room service, beverages, telephone charges, laundry, etc) and meals not specified on the tour itinerary are not included and must be paid by the passenger. Accommodations and Itinerary: Land arrangements are provided as described in the tour program. The tour company reserves the right to change or substitute (1) hotels for accommodations in similar categories (2) or features of the itinerary in order to accommodate changes in the schedule. Meals: Meals are provided as specified in the tour program. If you require special meals due to dietary restrictions, we must receive written details of your requirements at the time of booking. We cannot guarantee your requested diet but every effort will be made to accommodate these requests. Passports: Obtaining a passport is the sole responsibility of the passenger. Passports must be current and valid beyond the dates of travel. Your airline ticket name must match your passport name or you may be denied boarding the airplane. Passengers who are denied boarding due to discrepancies between ticket and passport names or because of expired passports accept full responsibility and are subject to the cancellation terms of the tour. Some countries such as Israel require that your passport expiration be 6 months beyond your travel dates. Smoking: Smoking is not allowed on the motor-coach but frequent stops are made throughout the day. Tips: Gratuities for baggage, hotel and restaurants detailed in the itinerary are included. Gratuities for Tour Guides, Local Guides and Motor-coach Drivers are NOT included please see your essential Reading (provided with confirmation) for recommendations on tipping. Total Group Cancellation: If it becomes necessary to cancel an entire tour prior to departure, Landa Cleary Travel Co., Inc. will offer the next available date or will make a full refund of money paid.
