Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) IWT estimated to be worth $19 billion per year Transnational criminal gangs are exploiting the increasingly interconnected air transport system to trade wildlife illegally Evidence indicates airlines are unknowingly being used by traffickers to transport these illegal products (alive and dead) Responsibility remains with enforcement agencies but airlines can act as additional source of intelligence 17
Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) Liaise with International Organizations and Associations as well as strong cooperation with CITES The objective is to raise awareness of the issue amongst relevant members, airline staff and customers Establishment of a Temporary Wildlife Task Force Provide recommendation to the LAPB on how to address awareness of Illegal Wildlife Trade in the LAR 18
