The Healesville Rotary Club s Weekly District 9810 BULLETIN Week 1718-05 July 27th, 2017 Warmly Welcomed! Incoming Exchange student, Emma de la Morinerie arrived late Tuesday night to Melbourne s chilly night air and a warm Rotarian welcoming party complete with flags and balloons and just a little noise! The warm welcome continued when she arrived in Healesville to another welcoming round of hugs from Helen, Laila and Ayman Halim, part of Emma s first host family. Your Bulletin caught up with them on Wednesday as Emma s new brother and sister showed her around the locality and of course, Rotarians will have ample opportunity to meet Emma when she joins us for meetings and events over the duration of her stay in Australia. Likewise, we are sure to learn a little of Emma s home in France whilst we do our best to make her feel at home and enjoy our unique part of the world. ROTARY HEALESVILLE s Bulletin July 27th, 2017 From the President s Desk... Hi everyone, Another busy week. Preparation for DG s visit, bank signature transfer, membership seminar, to name but a few. Tonight is the District Governor s visit. With a Christmas in July theme and lots of festive spirit it promises to be a great evening. The club gives our President Elect David Lau a warm welcome. We wish him all the best in his position. Well done also to Wilma, who is off raising money again for the Milking Cow and Goat Project, this time with a Healesville High School fundraiser on 10 August. It is a Rotary night but we encourage families and friends to attend. To keep the community and the public informed about our projects, we have placed an ad in the mail newspaper, which should also help with our membership drive. Former Exchange student Weds By helping to create a good public image I m sure it will attract new members. I urge any member with a new idea or project to come forward and discuss it with the committee. Together we can do it. Ray Jarvis attended the recent district membership seminar and came back with some good ideas for the club and the club s future. Well done Ray. On Tuesday night the A Welcome Team of Don, Terry, Stu and I went to the airport to welcome Emma de la Morinerie. We had a very nice welcome scene, with balloons, a welcome sign and a French flag, which impressed Emma very much. All went well, except for Terry who was nearly arrested for terry-ism for accidentally discharging two balloons. Enjoy the evening with our DG and ADG. Merry Christmas in July everyone. Sam Halim Former Rotary Exchange student from Germany Anne Wawra on the occassion of her wedding to Sebastian Muller-Rosenbach on 2nd June, 2017 in Wòrthsee, Germany. The attending Australian contingent included Stuart McDonald RYE, Stephen Shortis (Incoming Counsellor) wife Jean and grandson Nike, Barbara Dickson (one of the four host families). Page 3
