Baggage Tags Be sure that each of your bags, including your check-in bag, has a completed KIconcerts baggage tag affixed. Other things to note: Airline Tickets Your airline ticket is an electronic ticket. A copy is not necessary for airport check-in as long as you have your passport and flight information. Passport Your passport is vital. Take care of it at all times. Do not pack it in your check-in baggage and do not leave it lying around. Keep a copy of your passport separate from your passport. And finally, we wish you a very pleasant and memorable time. - KIconcerts Team Gilman School Page 3
PERFORMANCES April 16, 2017 Informal performance in front of the Tomb of St. Anthony at Saint Anthony s Basilica, Padua The Pontifical Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua is one of the eight international shrines recognized by the Holy See. Construction of the Basilica probably began around 1232, just one year after the death of St. Anthony. This international shrine dedicated to the saint, is visited by more than 5 million pilgrims every year. Concert at Caffe Pedrocchi, Padua The Pedrocchi is an historic landmark, and when it first opened in 1831, it was the largest cafe in Europe. Antonio Pedrocchi consciously built his cafe near the university and it soon became a meeting place of intellectuals, academics and students in Padua. The revolutionary ideas that were born here, especially during the Italian Risorgimento, led to an attack by Austrian troops on the café in 1848 to break the resistance the Austrian bullets are still visible today in the white drawing room. PERFORMANCES April 18, 2017 Informal performance in front of St. Dominius Church, Split Exchange concert with Silvije Bombardeli - Academic Choir of the University of Split at Croatian National Theatre, Split The Croatian National Theatre in Split which originally opened in 1893, is owned and operated by the City of Split and is one of the oldest surviving theatres in Dalmatia. The building was initially used to stage performances by traveling troupes (mostly Italian), as there was no full-time drama ensemble in the city of Split by the very end of the 19th century. The first professional theatre troupe appeared in 1920, when the building underwent its first renovation and when the theatre was renamed Dalmatian National Theatre. In 1940 the theatre experienced a brief period of revival, adopting its current name and housing opera, drama and ballet ensembles. HNK Split hosts around 300 performances every year, attended by a total audience of around 120,000. Some 20 to 40 opera, ballet and dramatic productions are staged per year in addition to many symphony concerts performed by the in-house orchestra. The theatre is billed as the premier theatre house in Dalmatia and one of the biggest and oldest theatre houses in the Mediterranean. Gilman School Page 5
PERFORMANCES April 19, 2017 Concert at the invitation of the Mayor of Trogir at Cathedral St. Lovre, Trogir The Cathedral of St. Lawrence (or St Lovre) is a Roman Catholic triple-naved basilica constructed in Romanesque-Gothic in Trogir, Croatia. Since its construction lasted several centuries, it illustrates all the styles that succeeded one another in Dalmatia. It serves now as the most imposing monument in the city of Trogir. Page 6
PERFORMANCES April 20, 2017 Exchange concert with Dubrovački komorni zbor at St Ignatius Church, Dubrovnik A beautiful Baroque style church located up some stairs on a hill just off the Gundulic s Square and down a small street. It is hidden quite well, but one of the more impressive in the town. A set of large stairs leads up to the church that was built in 1738 by Passalaqua, similar to Spanish Steps in Rome. The church was completed in 1725 after 60 years of work, and is the largest in Dubrovnik. Gilman School Page 7
