Dec Mar Apr Jun Jul Sep Oct Nov Location Semliki Safari Lodge is situated in the Semliki Wildlife Reserve in the heart of the Albertine Rift Valley. The reserve is bordered by the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains and Lake Albert. Previously known as the Toro-Semliki Game Reserve, Semliki Wildlife Reserve is the oldest protected area in Uganda. It is unique; gifted with geographic barriers that host a magical forest, perfect for walking. : Hot & dry : Relatively rainy : Dry with occasional passing rain : Short heavy rains Temperatures are typically warm, but warmer clothing may be needed for evenings / early mornings during the rainy season. Fauna and Flora Birding A bird-lover s paradise with over 425 species. Mammals Ugandan kob, chimpanzee, colubus monkey, elephant (forest & savannah elephants coexist in thereserve and produce offspring), buffalo. Special Attractions Shoebills are regularly seen on boat trips on Lake Albert. There is a dry habitat chimpanzee community living in the forest and guests can interact with thechimpanzee researchers. Accessibility By Road Semliki is approximately 6 hours from Kampala and 1.5 hours from Fort Portal. By Air Regular scheduled flights take approximately 2 hours and fly into Semliki Airstrip (very near to the lodge). Charters can easily be arranged as well. Closest Major Airport Entebbe. SEMLIKI SAFARI LODGE FACT FILE Water Our water comes from a well through a borehole. Bottled water is also provided in all tents, on activities and it is available at the bar. Lodge Staying at Semliki is like stepping back in time. It evokes the spirit of the old explorers, it piques curiosity and inspires discovery. Semliki is secluded and intimate. The main lodge is perched on a hill overlooking the riverine valley with the Rwenzori Mountains in the distance. A large dining area, plush seating with stunning views, and unique traditional art are the main features of the lodge. There is also a patio bar and a swimming pool area that includes a breezy shaded lounge and superb forest views, perfect for passing a lazy afternoon. Guests will be pampered by our staff while enjoying the sounds of the forest in a tranquil environment. Accommodation With a maximum of 18 guests we promise excellent service and attention to detail and an unforgettable experience. Our guests stay in one of 8 golden-hued tents with gleaming hardwood floors (1 family sleeping 3-4 3 double sleeping 2 each 4 twin sleeping 2 each). Staying under canvas is one of the most romantic and exciting things to do in on safari in Africa. You hear the sounds, you feel the wind, you smell the rain before it comes. But this isn t roughing it either: the tents are protected by a thick thatch roof and feature en-suite bathrooms, hot showers and double vanities.
