RC MMA Piquet-Gautier - COVEA CAUTION 100 000 TRAVERSE THE AIGUILLES ROUGES self-guided Wild and remote place, few steps from Chamonix If the Chamonix Valley is best known for its omnipresent Mont Blanc, the Aiguilles Rouges which constitute its northern border, remains secret. Composed of sandstone, gneiss and granite, the Aiguilles Rouges take their name from their red coloured rocks. This barrier of sharp peaks reaching skyward is a geological boundary between two worlds, one in panorama and exhuberant tourism, the other more understated with high pastures and large virgin spaces. During the trek, passing through three nature reserves (Passy, Aiguilles Rouges and Sixt Fer à Cheval) meetings with ibex, marmots and bearded vultures await. Other treasures are hidden: limestone lapies at Lake Anterne, dinosaur fossils and caves full of history. A gentle passage through a characterful mountain range. 6 days Self guided With baggage transport Accommodation : Classic (dormitory) Level : *** From : 420
