The BSU Aviation Training Center is located at the New Bedford Regional Airport, in the historic city of New Bedford, Massachusetts. It is about a ½ hr. ride from the BSU campus to the Aviation Training Center. Our facility is on the northwest side of the airport via New Plainville Rd., next to the north ramp area, also commonly referred to as the BSU ramp. ALL Flight Students Must have the following when First going to the Airport Current FAA Medical Certificate (minimum 3 rd Class required). You can find a list of FAA approved Medical Examiners in your area by using the following link: http://www.faa.gov/pilots/amelocator/ Students who are United States Citizens: Either of the following: A) Government-issue photo identification (e.g. state driver s license) AND official Birth Certificate (copies cannot be accepted) OR B)Current valid U.S. Passport Students who are NOT United States Citizens: A) Current Passport and U.S. Visa or Permanent or Lawful Permanent Resident Card (if applicable); Refugee/Asylee status (if applicable). All non-u.s. citizens MUST complete a TSA application prior to the initiation of any flight training. Completion of the TSA application is preferred prior to the start of ground training. All students must acquire the following items before their first flight lesson: The list represents an investment in your long-term training, not simply for a single semester. Consider purchasing a quality flight bag - it will be a one-time purchase that will consolidate your flight gear and last through years of use. Many of the required FAA publications are free online at www.faa.gov. BSU-specific training publications including aircraft checklists, training manuals, and the entire list of required publications for your course of training are online at www.bridgew.edu/aviation. It is every pilot s responsibility to familiarize themselves with the required publications, and maintain currency of knowledge at all times. BSU Flying Bears AVIATION FLIGHT TEAM (National Intercollegiate Flying Association) NIFA Train to be one of the Best! Become a member of BSU Flight Team! Bridgewater State University s flying team mission is to compete at the Regional and National flyin competitions. No license needed in order to compete in the ground events. Just need a Private Pilot's license to compete in the flying events. We are especially looking for younger members so they can be on the team for a couple of years. We will be competing in October for the regional championship and in May in the national flight competition.
