(B/L/D) Day 5 Wednesday, June 19, 2019 Latrabjarg Cliffs & Dynjandi, ICELAND - On Iceland s north coast and close to the westernmost tip of the country are the impressive cliffs of Latrabjarg; Europe s largest bird cliff. Millions of individual seabirds make their home along the promontory safe from the range of scavenging foxes on the steep ledges. Atlantic Puffins, Northern Gannets, Razorbills, and guillemots have each selected their preferred areas in and above the cliff in which to roost and nest. The Latrabjarg cliffs reach heights of up to 440 meters along a staggering 14-kilometer stretch of the coast. Iceland is well-known for its spectacular waterfalls. The iconic Dynjandi waterfall, located in the Westfjords region, is regarded as one of Iceland s most impressive and majestic waterfalls. At the top, the cascading water is roughly 100 feet wide and tumbles down about 330 feet into the fjord. Its name Dynjandi means, the thundering one and its vast size, enormous sound, and sheer force is overwhelming. It has also been nicknamed, The Bridal Veil because of the way the water sprays and spreads over the rocks. (B/L/D)

Day 6 Thursday, June 20, 2019 Vigur Island & Hornbjard Cliffs, ICELAND - Vigur Island is a little more than a mile (1.6 km) in length and about 450 yards (412 m) wide. This green oasis punctuates the waters of the Ísafjarðardjúp fjord east of the town of Isafjordur. The island is home to a single farming family and has some meticulously preserved historical landmarks including Iceland s only windmill, built in 1840 and used until 1917 for grinding imported wheat from Denmark; and a 200-year-old rowing boat, which is still in use to ferry sheep to the mainland. Summer is the best time to see large numbers of Atlantic Puffins, Arctic Terns, and Black Guillemots. In the afternoon cruise along the Hornbarjard Cliffs. (B/L/D) Day 7 Friday, June 21, 2019 Akureyri, ICELAND - Akureyri, called the Capital of the North is the second largest urban area in Iceland, and a lively one at that. Hemmed by the 60-km (37- mile) long Eyjafjörður, Akureyri is sheltered from the ocean winds and embraced by mountains on three sides. Late 19th-century wooden houses impart a sense of history, and the twin spires of a modern Lutheran church rising on a green hill near the waterfront, provide a focal point. To the south of Akureyri is the pyramid-shape rhyolite mountain Súlur. Beyond it is Kerling, the highest peak in Eyjafjörður District. (B/L/D) Day 8 Saturday, June 22, 2019 Cruising the Greenland Sea - Our Expedition Team members will recap our experiences in Iceland in the Lecture Theatre and will prepare you for the island of Jan Mayen. Other onboard diversions include spa treatments, a workout in the Fitness Centre, and, of course, exquisite dining experiences. (B/L/D) Day 9 Sunday, June 23, 2019 Jan Mayen, NORWAY - Humpback and minke whales cavort and feed in the waters around the impressive volcanic island of Jan Mayen with its towering ebony peaks and broad black lava beaches. The primordial landscape is dominated to the north by the 7,500 feet high (2,300 meters) Mt Beerenberg, an active volcano covered in glacial ice that last erupted in 1985. With permission from the Norwegian authorities, a landing is possible at this rarely visited outpost. Visitors may walk to the research and weather station, or beyond, for birds-eye views of the meteorological station and the long black sandy eastern shore. (B/L/D) Day 10 Monday, June 24, 2019 Cruising the Greenland Sea - Our Expedition Team members will recap our experiences in Jan Mayen in the Lecture Theatre and will prepare you for the island of Svalbard. Other onboard diversions include spa treatments, a workout in the Fitness Centre, and, of course, exquisite dining experiences. (B/L/D) Days 11 to 13 Tuesday, June 25 to Thursday, June 27, 2019 Cruise & Explore Northern SVALBARD - There are several deep fjords and prominent glaciers in the northern reaches of Svalbard, as well as the northern hemisphere s widest glacier front. Ice conditions will dictate how much can be accessed in terms of cruising bird islets like the Andøyane Islets or approaching glaciers like Monaco Glacier and Seliger Glacier. The Northern Region is also known to have several walrus haul-outs and areas defined as Arctic Desert. Walks and hikes ashore to have a closer look at flora and wildlife are a possibility in the spectacular Northern Region of Svalbard. (B/L/D) Days 14 to 16 Friday, June 28 to Sunday, June 30, 2019 Cruise & Explore Southern SVALBARD - Svalbard s Southern Region and specifically Spitsbergen s west coast is less ice-clogged than the rest of Svalbard due to the moderating influence of the Gulf Stream. Several fjords cut into the western coast of Spitsbergen and have been used by trappers and hunters, as well as the different mining companies that tried to exploit the riches of the archipelago s largest island of Spitsbergen. Remains of huts and mines, as well as

active commercial and scientific settlements can be found and visited. Depending on the time of the season, glaciers can be visited on foot or by sea. (B/L/D) Day 17 Monday, July 1, 2019 Bear Island (Bjørnøya), NORWAY - Almost half way between Tromsø and Svalbard is isolated Bear Island considered the southernmost island of the Svalbard Archipelago. The unglaciated island is an impressive Nature Reserve of steep, high cliffs that are frequented by seabirds, specifically at the southern tip. Brünnich s Guillemots, Common Guillemots, Black Guillemots, Razorbills, Little Auks, Northern Fulmars, Glaucous Gulls, Black-legged Kittiwakes, and even Atlantic Puffins and Northern Gannets nest along the cliffs south of Sørhamna. (B/L/D) Day 18 Tuesday, July 2, 2019 Tromsø - Oslo, NORWAY - Tromsø surprised visitors in the 1800s: they thought it very sophisticated and cultured for being so close to the North Pole hence its nickname, the Paris of the North. It looks the way a polar town should with ice-capped mountain ridges and jagged architecture that is an echo of the peaks. The midnight sun shines from May 21 to July 21. Tromsø is home to only 69,000 people, but it's very spread out the city's total area, 2,558 square km (987 square miles). Upon arrival in Tromso pier, you are welcomed by our local representative and start your guided tour of the town. Tromsø, a city in northern Norway, is a major cultural hub above the Arctic Circle. It s famed as a viewing point for colorful Northern Lights that sometime light up the nighttime sky. The city s historic center, on the island of Tromsø, is distinguished by its centuries-old wooden houses. The 1965 Arctic Cathedral, with its distinctive peaked roof and soaring stained-glass windows, dominates the skyline. Discover Tromsø s varied architectural styles on this panoramic coach tour. Pass Tromsø Church, one of the largest wooden churches in the North, and continue around the Island to the park in the south of the island, Telegraf bukta. Take a short walk to the beach. Then continue to Sandnessund Bridge connecting the Troms Island with Kvaløya (Whale Island). Continue past the University - the northernmost university in the world (possible stop at the botanical garden), and cross the bridge over the Tromsø Sound. On the other side lies the beautiful Tromsdalen parish-church, also called the Arctic Cathedral. This unique Cathedral, with its angular formation and distinctive aluminium- clad front, was consecrated in 1965. It has one of the largest stained-glass windows in Europe. Your visit ends with a drive back across the Tromsø Bridge, more than 3,000ft (914m) long. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant followed by a transfer to airport for your short flight to Oslo. Upon arrival in Oslo, transfer to your hotel, the evening is at your leisure. Accommodation: RADISSON BLU PLAZA or similar (2 nights). (B/L) Day 19 Wednesday, July 3, 2019 Oslo, NORWAY - Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will enjoy a guided visit of the Norwegian Capital where you will admire the Royal Palace, The National Theatre, the Parliament, the Opera House by the water front, and the medieval Akershus fortress. There will be time for a pleasant stroll through the Frogner Park with the controversial sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. Dinner will be served at our hotel. (B/D) Day 20 Thursday, July 4, 2019 Oslo, NORWAY - CANADA - Breakfast at the hotel and check out from our hotel and transfer to the airport for our flight back to Canada via Reykjavik. (B) Expedition highlights and wildlife listed here are possible experiences only and cannot be guaranteed. Your Expedition Leader and Captain will work together to ensure opportunities for adventure and exploration are the best possible, taking into account the prevailing weather, wildlife activity and ice conditions.
