LAS PEÑAS LAS PEÑAS, SANTA ANA PORT AND HILL The Santa Ana Hill, formerly named as Cerrito Verde is the place where the city originated, due to its definite foundation in 1547 which was held on the hill slopes: Las Peñas Neighborhood: The buildings with the millenary constructive tradition of the primitive lake dwelling, flourish close to the Santa Ana Hill.. Santa Ana Hill: It is located at the northeastern part of the city. In a 310 meters and 444 stairs path, you could find restaurants, coffee places, art galleries and craftsmanship stores. Santa Ana Port: A recent project develops real estate which offers commercial buildings, offices and hotels. Museums like Julio Jaramillo of Guayaquil s popular music and the shipyard Museum of Emelec and Barcelona.
RIVERWALK MALECON SIMON BOLIVAR Malecón Gardens: More than 350 native plants species. Listen to the birds singing in a privileged location. Also various artist can draw your caricature or have a coffee near a lagoon where ducks, fish and gooses enjoy their surroundings. IMAX: It is the first of its type in South America. The best technology projecting cultural and international films. Civic Plaza: Admire monuments and sculptures, four of them representing nature elements: air, water, fire and earth. You can also find on this sector the Guayaquil Yatch Club and the Naval Club. Cristal Palace: This has become the spot for international art where the expositions of Picasso and Rembrandt pieces have been displayed.
GUAYAS RIVER AND CARMEN HILL GUAYAS RIVER, MANGROVE AND CEMETERY EXCURSIONS Morgan Pirate Ship or Discovery Fiesta: The tours along the Guayas River on either of these ships take you to appreciate all the diverse urban background of our city. Carmen Hill: The top of the hill has been transformed into a touristic viewpoint remembering the Via Crucis with its 14 stations located in the stairs resting areas. General Cemetery of Guayaquil: It was declared in 2003 as Cultural Heritage and today offers artistic and historical touristic routes.
PARKS AND SQUARES DOWNTOWN AND HISTORICAL LANDMARKS The monumental part of the city is located in the Seminario Park and surrounding areas. The Cathedral, the Municipal Museum and Library, the Municipal Palace, The Governor s office, the Administration Square and others are located nearby this park.
HISTORICAL PARK SAMBORONDON Located in Entre Rios neighborhood in the Guayaquil Samborondon highway. It tries to recreate the city s way of life of the late XIX century and is composed of 3 zones: Wildlife, urban architecture and expositions of rural and urban traditions. Three malls, bars, restaurants, discotheques and a racetrack are located in this area.
PLAZA LAGOS TOWN CENTER SAMBORONDON Boutiques, restaurants, coffee shops, around a beautiful plaza that holds office buildings, condos and a commercial complex. This is an unique project in Samborondon that promotes an urban concept based in the principles of new urbanism.
TEATRO SANCHEZ AGUILAR SAMBORONDON This theater inaugurated in May 2012 offers continued presentations from Thursdays to Sundays, and features local and international artists. The main hall holds 952 persons and has a smaller hall, Salón Zaruma, with a capacity of 150 spectators.
