The City of Hobart is committed to making venues and events accessible so they can be enjoyed by everyone. The following information will help people with access and mobility issues. City of Hobart Floral Shows The free City of Hobart Floral Shows are presented in spring and autumn by local horticultural societies at the Hobart Town Hall, 50 Macquarie Street. The 2017 18 program includes the Dahlia and Gladiolus, Daffodil and Camellia, Orchid, and Rose and Iris shows. The Rotary Club of Salamanca sells Devonshire teas and sandwiches at each event. Lifts from the parking deck on Elizabeth Street and ground level on Macquarie Street access the first floor where the event is held. Myer Hobart Christmas Pageant Saturday 18 November, 10.30 am The 2017 Myer Hobart Christmas Pageant will be another fabulous event celebrating our diverse community. Widely recognised as Tasmania s biggest street parade, the pageant marks the start of the Christmas season and brings everyone together for a fun day in the heart of the city. Spectators should find a viewing spot by 10 am to make sure they catch the great variety of entertainment around the pageant route. An accessible viewing area is located opposite the pageant stage at the Liverpool Street end of Elizabeth Mall. The Taste of Tasmania Thursday 28 December 2017 Wednesday 3 January 2018 Tasmania s iconic summer celebration, The Taste of Tasmania, will again transform Hobart s waterfront for seven days and nights of feasting and entertainment; showcasing the unique and diverse nature of Tasmania s produce, gourmet food, wine and beverages, as well as homegrown talent to hundreds of thousands of people over the week. As well as regular on-street and off-street accessible car parks, extra accessible parking will be provided in the Murray Street car park next to Princess Wharf 1 please check the Taste website thetasteoftasmania.com.au for directions. Accessible parking spaces will be managed by a security guard in the car park between 10 am and 10 pm daily. A five-hour limit applies. Please ensure relevant permits are displayed. A drop-off and pick-up area will be available at the Morrison Street entrance Sunday to Friday and the silo end of Castray Esplanade every day. A fully accessible park-and-ride bus service will be available every day from the free parking area on the Regatta Grounds at the Queens Domain to the event. The bus route stops at the City s multi-storey car parks and delivers passengers to Franklin Wharf, opposite the ferry terminals. The bus leaves the Regatta Grounds every 15 minutes starting from 10.30 am each morning, with the last bus leaving Franklin Wharf at approximately 5 pm. Trained assistance animals (such as guide dogs) are welcome on the buses and at event. Carers are welcome free of charge to all Taste of Tasmania ticketed activities, including New Year s Eve celebrations. There will be specific tables and chairs available to assist patrons with limited mobility and wheelchairs; tables will be noted on site maps and clearly signed on table tops. For information at the event, please see staff at the Information Booth located in the PW1 forecourt. An MLAK-enabled adult change table and hoist is available at the Salamanca Square accessible toilets. A wheelchair for loan is available from the Information Booth for people with mobility concerns. First aid providers are located in the forecourt of PW1 for minor medical issues; for emergencies call 000. Salamanca Market Enjoy the sights, sounds, flavors, action and colour of Australia s best outdoor market proudly operated by the City of Hobart in Salamanca Place on the waterfront between Davey Street and Runnymede Street every Saturday from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm. A park-and-ride service using a fully accessible bus is available every Saturday from the City s multi-storey car parks to the market between 9 am and 2 pm, every 15 minutes. For information when you are at the market, please see the staff at the Information Booth located on the corner of Morrison Street and Salamanca Place. A wheelchair for loan is available from the Information Booth for people with mobility restrictions. An MLAK-enabled adult change table and hoist is available at the Salamanca Square accessible toilets. An MLAK key can be borrowed from the Information Booth.
