The Greater Charlotte Hospitality & Tourism Alliance (HTA) is a full-time private membership association representing a large variety of different businesses in the Greater Charlotte Area, with a mission to help its members grow their businesses. HTA S mission is proudly accomplished by the organization s relentless focus on being an advocate and leader in helping the growth of our region s hospitality & tourism business, and our overall economy. Partial List of Accomplishments Over the past two decades, the Greater Charlotte Hospitality & Tourism Alliance (HTA) has proudly and relentlessly been the driving force behind making Charlotte a great destination by being a leader and pro-active participant in numerous major projects, development, and other initiatives to include: Building the Charlotte Convention Center and its adjacent hotel Building the Time Warner Cable Arena Establishment of the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) Building the NASCAR Hall of Fame and the addition of the Crown Ballroom Building Charlotte s $200 million arts & cultural complex, as well as renovation to the Discovery Place Building Charlotte Knights Baseball Complex (BB&T Baseball Park) A primary leader in efforts to create a partnership between the city of Charlotte and the Carolina Panthers, upgrading the Bank of America stadium, and making it a better asset to attract more tourism-generating events including International Soccer matches and major college football games Opening of the Carolinas Aviation Museum, and pro-active involvement in bringing US Airways Flight 1549 plane, better known as the Miracle on the Hudson, to the museum Renovation of Bojangles Coliseum Securing 2017 NBA All-Star for Charlotte Active involvement in working with the City of Charlotte, CRVA, and other partners in major tourism conventions and events, such as the 2012 Democratic National Convention (DNC), CIAA Tournament, etc. Continuously building and enhancing relationships with decision makers whose actions are vital in making our region a better place to live, work, and visit! 4/4/2016:4

HTA s 2016 Top Projects The mission of the Greater Charlotte Hospitality & Tourism Alliance (HTA) is helping members grow their business while actively assisting retention and growth of the Charlotte region s hospitality business. To achieve this mission, HTA is focused on proactive leadership and involvement with following NEXT initiatives: Continuous enhancement of Charlotte Douglas International Airport and its HUB status Securing the 2019 NBA All-Star Event for Charlotte Retaining, enhancing and better promoting our region s existing hospitality & tourism related assets, attractions, major tournament and events 2022 Super Bowl in Charlotte Future ESPN Summer X-Games at Charlotte Motor Speedway 2020 Republican National Convention Elevating the Charlotte region s status as the Amateur & College Sports Capital of the South by: o Securing major tournaments for the new $40M Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews o Building a new major tennis complex, aquatic complex, baseball complex and amateur sports indoor complexes Securing annual Labor Day college football games, national college football championship games, WrestleMania, annual major international soccer games and other major tourism generating events at the Bank of America Stadium Attracting baseball tournaments, championship games, and other tourism events for the Charlotte Knights Baseball stadium Securing a MLS (Major League Soccer) team for Charlotte Making the Charlotte region a more visitor friendly destination Positioning the Charlotte area and the Carolinas to host Pan Am games, Olympic qualifying events and a future Summer Olympics Games One mega-regional tourism event every month 8/15/2016:6

HTA s 2016 Top Priorities I. Helping Members Grow Their Business Relentlessly focus on increasing business opportunities for members, enhancing HTA s membership value and making the organization a major resource, advocate and partner for members. Continue making membership meetings and events the best in the Carolinas and beyond II. III. Assisting members with maximizing their business opportunities and addressing their challenges Tourism and Economic Development Projects Continuous building and enhancing of relationships with decision makers whose industry knowledge, support and active engagement are critical to growing our region s hospitality and tourism industry. Continuously working with the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) to provide them with required tools to attract more visitors to the Charlotte area, and meeting industry s overall expectations of annual county-wide room revenues, food & beverage revenues and car rental revenues. Leading efforts and working with the CRVA, City, County, Mecklenburg Towns, adjacent counties and private developers to develop the following facilities, which are required for our region to attract major regional, statewide and national amateur sporting events. A premier sports complex (15 soccer fields and championship-caliber seating) and regional park in Matthews. (First phase of this $40 million plus complex opened in May 2013, and the final phase is scheduled for completion in late 2016) A premier indoor amateur sports complex (15 basketball courts in size) A premier tournament quality tennis complex for major amateur, pro and senior tennis tournaments (20 plus tennis courts and a championship stadium) A premier baseball complex (15 baseball fields and championship-caliber seating) A premiere Olympic style aquatic complex A premier softball complex (15 softball fields and championship-caliber seating) Leading and proactive involvement in: Enhancing the Charlotte area s current major conventions and tourism-related events Pursuing new major events to include: 2022 Super Bowl, 2020 Republican or Democratic National Convention, Labor Day College Football Game, college baseball tournaments and games, annual major international soccer games & tournaments, Pan-Am Games, 2024 Summer Olympics, and mega tourism-related events at the Carolina Panthers stadium Making Charlotte the permanent home for ACC Football Championship Game Making our Carolinas Aviation Museum (The Home of USAirways Flight 1549 / Miracle on the Hudson ) one of the best aviation museums in the nation Enhanced promotion of our region s vast attractions and tourism related venues to attract more visitors Community & Region-Wide Initiatives Active Involvement in: Making Charlotte a better place to live, work, play and visit by making it a more hospitality and visitor friendly city Efforts in enhancing Charlotte Douglas International Airport Efforts to enhance Charlotte s status as one of America s major hubs for aviation, banking, energy, healthcare, transportation, global business expansions, attracting new corporations, conventions, events and travel destination Charitable projects (Dine Out for Kids, homeless issues, No Kid Hungry, etc.) Education and workforce development initiatives
