Local Cuisine: Theme Parties The White Rajah Cocktail Party The term "White Rajahs" refers to the Brookes, an English dynasty who founded and ruled the Kingdom of Sarawak from 1841 to 1946. The White Rajah Cocktail Party will amaze your guests with the remarkable and sometimes bizarre history of the White Rajahs, and let them experience the pomp and splendour of that bygone era. Standing cocktail reception will be held al-fresco in the grounds of one of Kuching's historic Brooke-era buildings, complete with brass band and martial arts performances. The lush lawns and gardens are perfect for socialising before taking to the dance floor for the rest of the evening. Wear something white, bring your dance card to be filled in, and step back in time to an era of grace and elegance, when the three Rajahs' party guests included such luminaries as naturalist Sir Alfred Russel Wallace, novelist W. Somerset Maugham, and matinee idol Errol Flynn.

Local Cuisine: Theme Parties The Cat Theme Party No place on Earth is more appropriate than Kuching or Cat City to indulge in all things feline! Dress up in cat masks and tabby tails, for a cat theme party dinner in a grand marquee in the grounds of the museum, or in a trendy city restaurant. Select from cat-themed entertainment, such as songs from the hit musical Cats or a fashion show by slinky models on the catwalk!

Local Cuisine: Theme Parties Headhunter Longhouse Theme Party Headhunter Longhouse is an adventure party like no other! Dressed in full fearsome costume complete with blowpipes, an honour guard of chanting Iban warriors will greet you with haunting war cries set to the beat of Iban gongs. Amidst the jungle atmosphere, expect welcoming drinks of tuak, the potent Iban rice wine, gifts of local beadwork necklaces or souvenir pua kumbu sarongs, and plenty of festivity. Tree trunks, nipah palms, banana plants and lit torches. Cultural performers will share the musical sights and sounds of Sarawak with guests who can party all night dancing to traditional "longhouse disco", against the melody of ancient gongs and the pounding rhythm of skin drums.

Local Cuisine: Theme Parties Malay Kampung Theme Party Sample traditional Malay culture and its warm hospitality. Be welcomed into the Malay home with a traditional foot-washing ceremony before feasting on delicious Malay fare. After dinner, have a go at rokok apong, the traditional Malay cigarillo, and dance the merry joget dance. Be wowed by the traditional martial art, the silat, then try sepak takraw, a ball game of skill akin to a combination of volleyball and football.

Local Cuisine: Theme Parties I ndian Culture Theme Party Experience one of the world s oldest cultures through Kuching s small but vibrant Indian community. Hundreds of years ago, Indian seafarers were known to stop by Kuching as a port of call on the way to the Spice Islands and today, Indian temples dot cities throughout Sarawak. Become honoured guests at an Indian temple and join in the traditional Indian dances before digging in to a sumptuous Indian meal. Get the camera ready for the beautiful rice art created for the welcoming ceremony.

Local Cuisine: Theme Parties Oscar Night Theme Party Okay. So you ve ventured into the Bornean jungle. You ve climbed up misty mountains. You ve swung with the monkeys. You ve done it all. It is time for some star treatment. Its time for fame and glamour. Forget Pitt, Jolie, and Clooney. Tonight, you re a bigger star than all of them! Step of your limo onto the red carpet and be greeted by the adoring screams of your loyal fans. Dress to the nines you don t want to disappoint them! You get to be interviewed by Entertainment Borneo and all the newshounds in town. This is Hollywood in Borneo, baby! Head for the glam dinner awaiting you and the Oscar Party afterwards. You re number one tonight. Don t be stingy with the autographs, now!

Local Cuisine: Theme Parties James Bond Casino Royale Theme Party The name is Bond. James Bond. The mission will see you arriving in style as befits a secret agent to a secret venue where your directive is to enjoy an evening of style and sophistication in a casino setting fit only for royalty or the crème de la crème of society. Remember not to bring a weapon through the metal detectors, but do drive the flashy sports car for all to swoon as you and your sexy sidekick smile for the camera. This is the opportunity for you to dress up, Secret Agent Bond.

Trilling Adventures: Destination and Tours Kuching City Heritage Tour A perfect introduction to Sarawak's historical capital, Kuching. This informative three-hour tour covers many of Kuching's sights including the Cat Statue, Tua Pek Kong Chinese Temple and the world famous Sarawak Museum. Take a walk through Old Kuching along the narrow alleyways visiting the Central Markets and heritage building of the White Rajah era. You'll be picked up from your selected Kuching hotel, and taken across the river to visit the unique Cat Museum, passing the magnificent State Mosque and the Astana, the former residence of the White Rajahs. Tour returns via the golden-domed City Mosque where you'll proceed on foot through Old Kuching, visiting the colorful Central Markets and squeezing through narrow alleyways crammed with spice dealers and textile shops. Pass by the heritage buildings of the White Rajah era, the Pavilion, the Square Tower, the Court House, the Charles Brooke Monument and the Post Office.

Trilling Adventures: Destination and Tours Main Bazaar This is the oldest street in Kuching, dating back to 1864. It represents the very heart and soul of Kuching s history. Charming examples of old Chinese shop house architecture remain, most of which have been owned by the same families for generations. Historically, tinsmiths and carpenters started their trade here. Today, Main Bazaar is best known for having Kuching s highest number of antique and handicraft shops. Across the road is the Kuching Waterfront, the first port of call even for ancient traders. The White Rajahs built their Astana (palace) on the opposite banks, where it still stands. Today, the Kuching Waterfront remains the best introduction to Kuching city. Sarawak River Cruise The Sarawak River Cruise is a double-decker cruiser on the Sarawak River that provides a wide range of sightseeing experiences along the Kuching skyline. It caters to tourists on lazy meanders along the riverine mangrove forests, private dinner functions complete with traditional Orang Ulu music and dance; and even speed-dating events. More than ideal is to hold executive board or committee meetings in the middle of the Sarawak River on board the Equatorial, followed by dinner and cocktails. Here, business meets pleasure at its best.

Trilling Adventures: Destination and Tours Bumbu Cooking Class Raised in a Bidayuh village, Joseph teaches the secrets of cooking with fresh, organic ingredients from the rainforest. At the market you ll learn how to spot top-quality jungle ferns; back in the kitchen you ll prepare this crunchy delicacy, along with a main dish and a dessert that s served in a pandan -leaf basket you weave yourself. Maximum 10 participants. The small shop that serves as the entrance to the cooking school is like a mini-museum full of pieces Joseph has collected: blow pipes, rattan baskets (one designed to be used as a baby carrier), a rice mill, and ceremonial blankets and masks from Iban and Orang Ulu longhouses.

Trilling Adventures: Destination and Tours Damai Beach The Santubong Peninsular is where the forest meets the sea under the peak of Mount Santubong, just 40 minutes drive from the city centre and 60 minutes drive from the airport. Two neighbouring resorts, Damai Beach and Damai Puri, lead Kuching s weekend beach playground. Outdoor activities range from snorkeling and other water sports, to international standard 18-hole golf. Island cruises, fishing, dolphin watching, guided mountain climbing and rainforest trekking are available. Damai is all-in-one themed highland haven and beach paradise. Damai Central Damai Central is a brand new, multi-purpose complex set on 3.5 hectares of coastal land next to the two main beach resorts, the Sarawak Cultural Village, and the Damai Golf and Country Club. The complex was completed in late 2011 and envisioned as an oasis of activities. It houses facilities for shopping, water and beach sports, food and beverage, entertainment, and a bazaar. Damai Central presents a perfect setting for themed events that comfortably accommodate up to 1,200 for banquets or cocktail receptions.

Trilling Adventures: Destination and Tours Step back in time to Sarawak Cultural Vi l l age SCV is an award-winning living museum that displays the cultures of the 6 major groups of peoples in Sarawak. Traditional ethnic dwellings of the major tribes cover the 14 acres located at the foothills of Mount Santubong, about 35 km from Kuching. Visitors get to experience how rice is prepared by hand, bake sago cakes in a traditional kiln, try using the blowpipe - the most traditional of deadly hunting weapons - and step lively to the ngajat, the traditional dance that epitomizes the annual cultural festive season. Interactive cultural performances take place daily.

Trilling Adventures: Destination and Tours Golf In Borneo Highlands Ever wondered what it feels like to tee off in the heavens? You can at the Borneo Highlands Resort. On a mountain plateau 1,000m above sea level on the outskirts of Kuching, a 72-par, 6,247m-long course awaits enthusiastic golfers. The cool mountain air and pleasant daytime temperatures are ideal for a round of golf. Manicured greens meets rugged roughs in this golf course set on the highlands and surrounded by tropical rainforest. The experienced golfing staff at the resort are on hand for all your needs: organised competitions, or special events to challenge your skills. Beyond golf, take a stroll along the forest trails bathed in the sounds and sights of one of the world s oldest rainforests. Then, relax and leave the stress of city life behind while pampering yourself with a full jungle spa overlooking the majesty of the forest.

Trilling Adventures: Destination and Tours The Wa y of the Iban Longhouse The Iban tribe is Sarawak s largest indigenous group, with a wonderful culture of song, dance and art based on centuries of commune with the rainforest.
