Food Heros Food Heros Our food philosophy is clear; simply put, we love food! Not just for what it is, but for what accompanies it. Exquisite surroundings, great company and conversation, attentive waiters who become friends and, of course, fine wines from around the world. We offer a wealth of unique dining experiences created especially for the British palate and whenever possible we use the finest, sustainable British ingredients, such as Gloucester Old Spot pork and Loch Fyne salmon. In every case, our reputable suppliers are fully audited by our quality assurance team to ensure best practice farming methods. Our main restaurants offer British favourites and authentic cuisine inspired by worldwide destinations, and in addition, each ship offers the option of Select Dining restaurants, which serve contemporary menus crafted by our famous Food Heroes. Wherever you choose to dine on board you ll find all our dishes are thoughtfully and freshly prepared to ensure the most exceptional dining experience with every meal. We re not alone, as a nation of foodies we d be remiss if we didn t recognise that you ll have high expectations when it comes to dining. Actually, it s unsurprising that British tastes have been refined of late as the UK is in the midst of a (very successful) food fight out of the top 100 restaurants in the world, the UK is currently an impressive joint third (based on the number of entries*). And when you compare our petit proportions to those of the countries that sit above us, in terms of culinary concentration, our tiny island is bubbling over with brilliance. It s no wonder that we re the number one cruise line for food; it s in our blood! Because we re so obsessive over every aspect of our edible (and drinkable) experiences, we ve been able to join forces with luminaries who sit at the top table within their fields. James Martin, our fresh new ingredient for 2015, is the face of Britannia s cookery school. The Godfather of British cooking, Marco Pierre White, has created exclusive Gala Evening dishes for the main restaurants. Michelin-starred Atul Kochhar spices things up with restaurants specialising in Indian and Indonesian cuisine. Eric Lanlard s mini bakes are set to make a mighty impression in Britannia s Market Café. And Olly Smith s on hand to wash it all down with a glass of perfect plonk! Our collaboration with these Food Heroes also means that we re able to bring you once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to spend a little time in their creative company. When they travel you can join them on board for hosted dinners, shore excursions, Q&A sessions, book signings, masterclasses and, on board Britannia, hands on cookery classes hosted by all our famous faces, plus a few surprise guests from James circle of celebrity chef friends. But it s not just the famous faces that make our food fabulous we have cultivated a P&O Cruises team that is astoundingly successful at tantalising taste buds. From our Executive Chefs who are all ordained into the prestigious Chaîne des Rôtisseurs gastronomic society, to our on board Bakers, waiting team and highly trained Sommeliers and Baristas, we re proud to say we have the very best in the business. Mix all these exceptional ingredients together and you have dining experiences that simply must be savoured. From that first forkful on Gala Evening, to the gratifyingly fresh pizza that s just emerged from the poolside oven, the sneaky second slice of cheesecake in the buffet, the wine that s been perfectly paired to your succulent steak and the excitement of choosing from a chef s menu; we re here to
make memories that you ll take home to talk about. And yes, it s likely that you ll gain a couple of pounds while with us, but trust us when we say they are pounds very well spent! *The 2013 World s Best Restaurant Awards.
