ICAO Annex 8 Airworthiness of Aircraft Chapter 4 Continuing Airworthiness of Aircraft SoD Shall ensure there exists a system for receiving information and developing necessary actions(4.2) Doc No.9760 Airworthiness Manual PART V Chapter 6 Continuing Airworthiness of SoD & SoM Introduces the concept of continuing airworthiness(6.1) Type design organization should assess received information, investigate root cause and take corrective action(6.6) Type design organizations should report to CAA service information such as all faults, malfunctions, defects and other occurrences(6.7) 3

CCAR Part 21 CCAR 21-R3, issued in 1990, 3 rd Amended in 2007 21.8 reporting of failures, malfunctions, and defects The design approval holder must report information related to failures, malfunctions and defects of products and parts. The design approval holder must report any quality defect of products and parts. 4

CCAR Part 21 NPA(Notice of Proposed Amendment)of CCAR 21 R4 21.5 reporting of failures, malfunctions, and defects The design approval holder should have a system to collect, report, investigate and analyses information related to failures, malfunctions and defects of products and parts. The system shall be made available to related operators of the product, part or appliance. 5

Content of AC-21-19 1. General Applicability A. The holder of a type-certificate, restricted typecertificate, supplemental type-certificate of transport category airplane (weight over 5700kg) or rotorcraft (weight over 3180kg) shall have a continued airworthiness system.
