2. What s new or changed New: Compulsory alternate(s) warning If the setting CompulsaryAlternate is set to True in main program via PPSTray>>Settings>>PPS Settings and you do not select an alternate, then you will be prompt with a warning If you press OK then you can proceed. If you select Cancel you will need to select an alternate. New: Half degrees waypoints in the NAT tracks The PPS system can now handle the half degrees waypoint which from time to time is published in the NAT tracks. Page 3 of 19
New Enhanced generate autoroute function 2.3.1. Route generation With this enhancement you can now customize the behaviour of generating a autoroute. Cost Function: Distance calculation or ESAD (Equivalent Still Air Distance). Constraint options: Ignore constraints will make a route from A to B without taking any constraints into consideration like the RAD (Route Availability Document from Network Manager). Page 4 of 19
Force use of OTS When selecting this option the autoroute will force the route to go via the Oceanic Track System, like the North Atlantic Track system. Stay over land When selecting this option the route will maximum be 30 km of coast over water. It will try to make the route entirely over land. Of course this option will make no sense to use for a route from USA to Europe. This option is meant for small aircrafts. Via points/not via points These options gives you the possibility to insert specific waypoints you wish the route should follow or not follow. You can insert several for each option. Avoid Airspaces In the Airspace type box it is at the moment only possible to select FIR and enter ICAO code for the FIR which you wish the autoroute should avoid when generating a route. Avoid All FAA TFRs: This feature will avoid all temporary flight restrictions (TFR). Otherwise the TFRs that is not fully restricted but requires some sort of permission that cannot be stated at the time of the route generation will not be avoided. They will however be shown in the RouteWarnings list in the Route Report tab. Avoid FAA MOAs will avoid all FAA Military Operations Areas. Page 5 of 19
2.3.2. Route report (Applies only for USA airspace) Under the Route report tab you can select Show constrained airspaces and you will see in the Minimap which areas that has been avoided. And if you hover the mouse overhead one of the grey areas, you will be able to see the airspace which has been avoided. Page 6 of 19
New: ETOPS circles can now be different. With this new version you have the possibility to specify the SE Min and SE NM. In the example below you can see the aircraft ETOPS range for 3 different columns. 60 min, 120 min and 180 min. The ETOPS calculation will be based on these settings. These minutes can be adjusted to your company and/or approved settings Page 7 of 19
Furthermore you can have a fourth circle draw in the minimap for the selected ETP/ETOPS alternate(s). see item 2.9 New: Show custom ETP/ETOPS circle on map Under the ETP/ETOPS alternate selector you have an option called Show custom ETP/ETOPS on map. Here you can specify a distance and the you will see the circle together with the ETOPS circles around the ETP/ETOPS alternates. It will only be for a preview as the fourth circle will not be calculated in the calculation of the flight plan nor will it not be shown on CrewBriefing charts. Purely for preview in the minimap. Page 8 of 19
New: Adequate airports With the change of ETOPS circles, the Adequate SE NM and Adequate SE Minutes must now be change to the distance for 60 minutes, as PPS will use these numbers for adequate airport circles in the Minimap, so you need, for all your aircrafts, to change the NM and Minutes in the aircraft file. This will also solve the problem where there could be difference in the adequate airport circles in the minimap at some circumstances. Page 9 of 19
New: Optimum FL default on A new setting will be available so Optimum FL can be default on In the PPS8 Option there is under Corporate Data, Corporate file Settings, Feature and tick box where you can set Optimum FL default on Page 10 of 19
New: Route database Several improvements has been made to avoid the issues with the Variant has been deleted when validating the routes, which has occurred at some of our customers. The column Failed has changed name to Not valid A new button has been introduced. Save copy and Close will save a copy of the route with the next variant available. Page 11 of 19
New: Show all Types of company routes PPS8 will per default only show the company routes which has same type as the aircraft chosen for the particular citypair chosen. If aircraft used is set to use J as type for company routes only these will be shown unless you select the new option Show all Types of Company Routes Remember to press Then all routes in your route database for this citypair will be shown. New: Disable ETOPS E-ENT, E-EXT and ETP points Under Options there is now to new possibilities Disable ETOPS E-ENT, E-EXT will remove the indication ETOPS Entry and ETOPS Exit in the navigational part of the Operational Flight Plan. Disable ETPS points will remove the indication of ETP points in the navigational part of the Operational Flight Plan The above mentioned points will still be used in ETOPS summary depending on the summary used in your Operational Flight Plan Page 12 of 19
New ETOPS summary A new ETOPS summary possibility has been implemented. If you use *ETOPS5 in your Operational Flight Plan, you can have a summary like: New: Codes for sunrise and sunset New codes for the Operational Flight Plan for showing Sunrise and Sunset Sunrise codes *SR1 for DEP *SR2 for DEST Sunset codes *SS1 for DEP *SS2 for DEST Page 13 of 19
New: Additional text in the top of Operational Flight plan when ETOPS/ETP Presently in the PPS8 1.6.128 an additional text is added in the top of the OFP when making an ETOPS/ETP flightplan *********ETOPS/ETP FLIGHT PLAN********* ETOPS/ETP ALTN = airport 1, airport 2 etc This has been removed so it won t be added automatically. If you wish to have these lines added you must insert two new * codes in the top of your OFP layout. The codes are *ETOPSTEXT1 and *ETOPSTEXT2. New: Codes for Date of arrival We have following possibilities for showing the scheduled date of arrival, which means the date, we received from your scheduling system YYMMDD *SDOA DD/MM-YYYY *SSDOA DD.MM.YYYY *LSDOA DDMMYY *FSDOA DDMMMYY *MSDOA We have following possibilities for showing the estimated date of arrival (calculated by PPS8). YYMMDD *EDOA DD/MM-YYYY *SEDOA DD.MM.YYYY *LEDOA DDMMYY *FEDOA DDMMMYY *MEDOA New: Setting and codes for Local times PPS8 can now show you the local times on the Operational Flight Plan with a setting and a use of some new codes to implement into your Operational Flight Plan. In the Corporate settings under PPS8 Options you can set the setting by following the 6 steps Page 14 of 19
For step no. 5, please insert the google API: AIzaSyB99mKd0CNuh_XFQ_7wFUdLb13UVHA8c4Q Then you can implement following codes according to your wishes on your Operational Flight Plan for getting the local date and times Date of flight (local times) YYMMDD *DOFL DD/MM-YYYY *SDOFL DD.MM.YYYY *LDOFL DDMMYY *FDOFL DDMMMYY *MDOFL Schedule Date of arrival (local time) YYMMDD *SDOAL DD/MM-YYYY *SSDOAL DD.MM.YYYY *LSDOAL Page 15 of 19
DDMMYY DDMMMYY *FSDOAL *MSDOAL Estimated date of arrival (local time) YYMMDD *EDOAL DD/MM-YYYY *SEDOAL DD.MM.YYYY *LEDOAL DDMMYY *FEDOAL DDMMMYY *MEDOAL Estimated Time of arrival (local time) YYMMDD *EDOA1 DDMMYY *FEDOA1 DD/MM-YYYY *SEDOA1 DD.MM.YYYY *LEDOA1 DDMMMYY *MEDOA1 YYMMDD *EDOA1L DDMMYY *FEDOA1L DD/MM-YYYY *SEDOA1L DD.MM.YYYY *LEDOA1L DDMMMYY *MEDOA1L Local time Flight Data Local Scheduled Time of Departure *LSTD Local Scheduled Time of Arrival *LSTA Local Estimated Time of Departure *LETD Local Estimated Time of Arrival *LETA Local Estimated Time of Arrival ALTN1 *LETA1 Local Estimated Time of Arrival ALTN2 *LETA2 Keeping parameters when opening from CrewBriefing flightlist The PPS8 system will now keep all parameters uploaded to CrewBriefing when opening the flight again via the CrewBriefing flightlist BUT if changing anything then of course the system will calculate a new flight plan based on the new inputs which might/will result in a different result. Furthermore if new winds is available compare to the winds available on OFP the system will make a new calculating on the parameters but with newest winds available. Page 16 of 19
TOC after TOD The issue where the TOC came after TCD and gave some incorrect fuel calculations etc. is now solved STDALT.csv From/To Time The issue concerning STDALT.csv where the system was ignoring the possibility for inserting a from/to time is now solved and the function is working again. Customized historical winds The selected months in the customized historical wind will be displaying a little bit different on the OFP If selecting January, February, Marts and April with 50% probability will on OFP be displayed like this Average wind and temperature The average wind calculation between legs in navigation part of the OFP has been corrected. In some cases the average wind was off by some degrees and knots compared to windcharts. Accumulated minutes on Operation Flight Plan In some circumstances PPS will, if the leg time is 0, subtract a minute in the accumulated minutes in the NAV section of the OFP in version PPS8 1.6.128. This is now fixed in this new version Page 17 of 19
Isolated aerodrome procedure The calculation of fuel has been updated when using FAA rules. Flightlevel selection for ALTN1 and ALTN2 The buttons up/down for selections of FL is now working correctly again Page 18 of 19
3. Known issues / Limitations / Changes Occasionally ICAO identifier will not match the country name with the border section calculation (the plain country name will still always be correct) If copying a flight from the flight list the STA will remain as the original uploaded calculation. Designated STAR s selected by PPS for airport: LIRF/FCO might be incorrect for some arrivals. Manual selection must be done by user Any manual changes made to AFTN addresses during the planning phase will be reset if a the route is being changed Only 1 STAY in the route can be inserted if inserting more than 1, it will not work It s is not possible to use the planned destination airport as the take-off alternate Endurance time on ICAO ATC does not correspond to calculated times if using two alternates EET s will only be included in the ATC plan if IncludeFIREET is activated in settings If creating a custom route the SID/STAR selection box will not display any procedures Users can experience that occasionally RAIM will not calculate when the setting FSS is activated Workaround is to temporary activate LSS and RAIM will then calculate. Isolated aerodrome procedure does not work with Refresh / Recalc on CrewBriefing ALTN2 as info only does not work with Refresh / Recalc on CrewBriefing ALTN2 with FAA rules does not work with Refresh / Recalc on CrewBriefing If routes are stored with Flight Level Cap, they will not be visible in the ROUTE Guide item unless the selected Flight level is within the level cap If auto-offload of cargo is required with Auto-dispatch to stay within limits, the code OLD must be added in the #4#2 settings of PPS Page 19 of 19
