Hello and welcome to Bournville s first ever Christmas Festival. We know from listening to you just what a special time Christmas is in Bournville. Each year it brings the community together as it jointly celebrates and gives thanks. Toilets Partial wheelchair access Unsuitable for wheelchairs Refreshments As such we wanted to create an exciting new Festival that brings the very best of all the village s festivities together. By working in true partnership, we have been able to put on a range of Christmas festival delights for you and all the family to enjoy. From live music and lantern-making to nativity photo selfies, street food and a festive market, there really will be something for everyone. Shops on the Village Green will be selling their wares, including some seasonal specials, and we would encourage you to support them by shopping local. Of course, this special Festival would not be complete without the traditional and always popular Christmas tree lights switch on, led by volunteers from Bournville Village Council. We are delighted that it will be part of the Festival. This year though the switch on won t be the end of the celebrations, as a performance by the terrific Birmingham Rock School will round off the event in style. We very much hope you and your family enjoy the Festival. It would not have been possible without the goodwill and generosity of all the partners involved. Merry Christmas from... Bournville Village Council, Bournville Village Trust, Busy Parents Network, the Carillon, Rest House, Rowheath Pavilion, Selly Manor Museum and St Francis Church. 1.30PM Wave and welcome Father Christmas as he travels in his colourful sleigh along Maple Road, Willow Road and Sycamore Road to the Village Green where he will park up for the afternoon. Pose with Santa s sleigh for a festive selfie. 2.00PM to 5.30PM Selly Manor Museum Maple Road Be transported back in time as you explore the manor house which will be lit by atmospheric candlelight. Enjoy the company of Tudor re-enactors as they bring the house to life. Take part in hands-on displays, including dressing up in magnificent costumes and armour. Get crafty by making your own festive lantern,* for a small donation, and there will also be a children s trail and delicious refreshments available throughout the afternoon. Don t miss the talented Bournville Graduates Choir, who will be performing at the Museum at 2.45pm and 4.00pm. *Please bring your own glass jar for the lantern-making activity if possible as materials will be limited. 2.00PM to 2.10PM Listen to the wonderful Bournville Carillon as it plays traditional Christmas tunes to officially open the Bournville Christmas Festival. 2 3

2.00PM to 5.30PM 2.00PM to 5.30PM St Francis Church and Community Centre, Sycamore Rd Browse a variety of fabulous stalls selling good-quality cakes, preserves and other festive treats at the church s annual Christmas market. There will also be traditional games, including a tombola and a raffle to win a special Christmas hamper, and a crib scene trail with all correct entries going into a prize draw. Enjoy a mince pie and a hot drink and join in with two mini carol services at 2.15pm & 4.30pm. Don t forget to create your own bespoke nativity scene too with the help of the Pavilion Christian Community. Dress up in a range of fun outfits before having your photograph taken and emailed to you. What better way to create your own bespoke Christmas card? 2.00PM to 5.30PM Bournville Community Hub, Sycamore Rd Get creative at Bournville Community Hub. There will be Christmas tree decoration craft for kids downstairs, and wreath-making for grown-ups in the activity rooms upstairs. Bournville Junior School s children s choir will also be performing for 15 minutes outside the Hub at 5.00pm. Bournville Village Green Tantalise your taste buds with street food from some of the city s finest vendors, including: Flying Cow Burgers: Professional chef Dan Batchelor won best burger at the national Street Food Awards 2017. All burgers are made using dry aged beef from his family farm. Platinum Pancakes: Delicious pancakes made from fresh, local produce including eggs from free range chickens. For those with a sweet tooth, there will be homemade fudge and Christmas flavoured ice cream on sale too. The Grotto is brought to you by Bournville Village Council. Bournville Village Council Join members of Bournville Village Council to find out about their work and how you can get involved. The Council organise events ranging from the popular Bournville Festival to this event. The top five songs will be performed during the lantern procession from the Bournville Cross War Memorial later in the day. The Rest House s beautiful gift shop will also be selling an eclectic range of arts and crafts, some made locally, along with books and recordings relating to Bournville and the Carillon. 5.30PM to 6.00PM Take part in the beautiful walking lantern procession as it travels from the Bournville Cross War Memorial, on the corner of Willow Rd and Sycamore Rd, to Bournville Village Green. The procession will be led by Father Christmas and the Bournville May Queen. You can bring your own lantern for the procession or one that you have made earlier in the day at Selly Manor Museum. Enjoy the sounds of the Bournville Carillon as it plays the top five Christmas tunes as voted for by you. 6 7

6.15PM to 7.30PM Rock around Bournville s Village Green as the Birmingham Rock School perform a selection of Christmas favourites to round off the Festival in style. 6.00PM Take your place on Bournville Village Green as we countdown to the famous Bournville Christmas tree lights switch on. The switch-on is organised by Bournville Village Council and the lights, newly installed last year, were funded by the public. Bournville Village Trust covers the cost of the electricity. Throughout the day shops on Bournville Village Green will be selling their wares, including some seasonal items.
