Mount Raung is one of the most active volcanoes on the island of Java in Indonesia. It is located in the province of East Java and has a 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) wide caldera surrounded by a grayish rim. The difference in color of the rim and the flanks of the volcanoes is caused by the rim s lack of vegetation compared with the healthy and extensive vegetation on the flanks. Raung, standing almost 3,332 metres (10,932 ft) above sea level, is the tallest volcano of this cluster. Although the valleys between the major volcanoes boast fertile, ash-enriched soil for agriculture, available land is very limited. Raung contains centres constructed along a NE to SW line, with Gunung Suket and Gunung Gadung stratovolcanoes being located to the northeast and west, respectively. Mount Raung is a unique and big mountain in Java Island. Its uniqueness is found in its kaldera whose depth is 500, which is surrounded by many small peaks which give us enchanting scenery. Volcano Hiking Itinerary: Day 1: Jogjakarta Airport - Borobudur - Selo Base Camp Arrived in Jogjakarta airport and meeting service with our guide then directly transfer to your Jogja hotel for check in and deposit laggguage then drive to Borobudur, sightsee borobudur, pawon temple and mendut, back to jogjakarta hotel. For resting before the trek begin. By 10pm, we will pick you up and drive to selo village (base camp) and prepare all things including short briefing from local guide before trekking. 1am the trek is starting. Note: we suggest you to arrive in Jogjakarta on the day. You have enough time a having a rest. Back to hotel at 7am, breakfast, shower, checked out by 8am and drive for 3hrs to Sumber Waringin village on the mount raung slopes, arrived by 11am then 11.30 ready to hike for 7hrs to the 3rd post, Tonyok post for staying overnight. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Tent Day 5: Explore The Summit mount Raung Sumber Waringin - Prigen Early morning trekking to summit region of Raung and explore the Summit and see the Big Crater with still smoke going up(2 km width with a depth of 500 m). You can see (if weather is clear) Ijen and Bali island from top of mount raung. The morning views along this region are so beautiful with some panoramic view and lots of vegetation. Then hike back to village for 6 hrs, Lunch enroute. By 3pm arrived in the village/base camp and drive to Prigen Pasuruan for 6hrs. stay overnight at hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Kaliandra Hotel (due to all rooms served by hotel are in twin, so you will have twin room here) Day 6: Prigen - Arjuno Summit (3,339 m) Breakfast, 9am morning starting trekking to Mount Arjuno about 6hrs,

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Tent Day 7: Mount Arjuno - Mount Welirang (3,166 m) Breakfast on Arjuno base camp, enjoy top summit of Arjuno then walking down to Mount welirang. They are located in a 6 km line between Arjuno and Welirang. Arrived at Welirang, enjoy the view of welirang. Stay overnight at camp site. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Tent Note: Arjuno and Welirang form a twin volcano near East Java's capital Surabaya. Welirang is famous for its sulphur deposits on one of its summit craters that are being quarried still using Medieval methods. The name Arjuno is Javanese rendition of Arjuna, a hero in Mahabharata epic, while Welirang is Javanese word for sulfur. Day 8: Mount Welirang - Surabaya - Your Own Time/Arrangement.
