How to Protect our Medieval Castle By: Lady Mariha, Lady Elizabeth, Jester Megan, Lady Drew, and Lady Negin
THE CASTLE: What happened? Lord Escalante needs help protecting her castle. She has called on us, her faithful knights to defend the castle. We are under attack because a neighboring lord wants to conquer our land for himself. So Lord Escalante called us together to assemble a plan to defend the castle. The attack began by them trying to tunnel under and into the castle. Fortunately, we had the walls built far into the ground to prevent attack by such methods. Thankfully, they have not discovered this yet, and thus we have bought ourselves some time. They shall futilely dig while we plan our defense. But soon they will find the wall, so we must hurry.
Castle Defense Plan A: Our first method of defense was the moat. Our particular mote is about 50 feet deep and that equals about 7.5 full grown men. Our mote is usually very effective and was, at one point, filled with piranhas and man- eating sharks. Dry Moat
Castle Defense Plan B: Our second method was to watch out for enemies through the bartizan, or towers, and make sure everything was set for their arrival. We would take up the drawbridge and ready the steep, deep moat. Bartizan (Towers)
Castle Defense Plan C: Another way of defending the castle is to hope that dropping the carcasses and boiling water through the murder holes will scare the enemies enough to leave us alone at least for a while. Murder Holes
Castle Defense Plan D: This defense would be to corner the enemy in our barbicans. That would make it easier for our small army to attack their giant one. We would have the advantage, being out in the open. Barbican
Castle Defense Plan E: When they begin taking out their battering rams we ll make sure that our batter protects our fortress. If they do not take out the rams we will set up our archers to shoot arrows through the arrow loops Arrow Loops
Our Castle We have a very strong defensive system at our castle. We may be able to hold off on the attackers. We think we know all of their ways of attack. We have spoken with the other lands that were taken over by this enemy lord and they told us many of their attack mechanisms. Well, there is no real way of knowing so we will have to wait and see when we get there.
Castle Attack Plan A: Their first method of attacking our delicate castle would be to use a battering ram to knock down the castle curtains. If that didn t work they will tunnel under the castle walls and attack from there.
Castle Attack Plan B: They will use their four catapults to throw giant boulders at our castle. They probably have a list of common castle weak points and the expert workers will fire at the exact pin- pointed spots. Catapult
Castle Attack Plan C: We think that they will use a bore so they could destroy our walls of our castle and easily attack on the inside. After doing this they could also use a ballista so they could shoot arrows at the innocent people in our castle. Ballista
Castle Attack Plan D: We think that attackers will climb up the ladders we have around the castle so they can use direct attack. They would also use the ladders for the element of surprise by attacking us when we are unaware of it.
Plan E: Castle Attack If they are very prepared, the enemy will know all of our castle weak points. They will realize that our castle isn t impenetrable. They will have a strong army and defensive system. They will use all of the technology they have to try and break down our castle.
The Parts of Our Castle Here are the key parts that make up our castle:
Finale As the sun rose, we saw what all our efforts had come down to. We were victorious. The battle was won, and our knights had shown their worth and great bravery in the face of danger. Lord Escalante is ecstatic at our triumph, and our castle is safe again. When will we be called on again? Whatever happens, we will be happy to serve our lord.
