We strongly suggest all guests to wait for the first available turbojet departing directly from the airport, unless your arrival is after the last sail of the day. Upon arrival, please proceed DIRECTLY to the FERRY TRANSFER DESK (there are several signs hanging with this designation), on level 5, BEFORE PASSPORT CONTROL, IMMEDIATELY AFTER ARRIVAL to buy your ticket. Your luggage will be handled by the Ferry Transfer Desk, according to the respective check-in stubs (please remember to have them at hand with you), and will not be placed in the luggage carrousel. You will be given a sticker like this: If you don t take the ferry you need to enter Hong-Kong and after the passport control, pick your luggage and take one of the following to the Hong Kong/Macau Ferry: 1.2 Bus n.º 11 (air-condicioned), Fare: HKD 36 (approx. FROM THE MACAU AIRPORT Taxi: The easiest way is to get to Hotels near the Centre for Tourism Activities is by taxi. The cost should be around 80 to 95 MOP. Please note that airport tax of 5 MOP plus 5 MOP for each baggage can be applied. OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT MACAU CURRENCY The Pataca (MOP) is the official currency. Nevertheless, the Hong-Kong dollar is accepted everywhere but no conversion is usually made. The exchange rate is 1HKD = 1.032 MOP. VISA Most nationals with a valid passport don t need a visa. USEFUL TIPS - Electricity in Macau is at 220V, 50Hz. The power plugs used in Macau are of the three-pin, square-shaped or round-shaped type. - Tap water is safe to drink both in Macau and on the islands. Its quality is regularly checked and guaranteed by the Health Department according to international standards. - Chinese and Portuguese are the official languages, Cantonese being most widely spoken. English is generally used in trade, tourism and commerce although it s very difficult to keep a conversation in English with a taxi driver. - It would be beneficial if you could have a glimpse of this tiny town. Firearms, dangerous drugs, endangered animal species and inflammable substances are prohibited. There is a 5% ad valorem duty on importation of electrical appliances and equipment. - Macao is seven hours ahead of GMT, the same as Hong Kong and China. It has no daylight saving time.
