Followng the routes The routes have been desgned as lesurely day rdes for reasonably ft rders and nvolve some hlls, so choose a route sutable to your level of ftness, and don t feel dsheartened f you have to get off and push occasonally. Turnng left after the Lazy Trout towards Leek there are beautful vews of Tttesworth reservor whch has over 00 hectares of rch wldlfe habtat. Lapwng, snpe and curlew are regular vstors to the felds around here and when water levels fall n the summer the exposed mud attracts brds such as oystercatchers, plovers and herons. Soon the road dverges from the lake as you clmb up and then down to jon the Staffordshre Way, just south of Rudyard Reservor. (From here you can take an optonal vst to the market town of Leek, famous for ts textles and antques empora). Look well ahead - check ahead for obstructons n the road so that you do not have to swerve suddenly.. Get out of the gutter - rde at least a metre from the kerb and further out f t s unsafe for a vehcle to pass.. Don t get car-doored - leave plenty of room when passng parked vehcles. 7. Show your ntentons - sgnal and manoeuvre well n advance, and only when t s safe to do so. Keep your poston n your lane so vehcles cannot undertake. 8. Cover your brakes - rest your hands on your brake levers, so that you are ready to use them. Always use both brakes at the same tme, and take care on slppery roads. 9. Lght up - when t s dark or there s bad vsblty you must have lghts on the front and rear of your bke. Carry spares n case your man lghts fal. Wear brght or reflectve clothng.
