There are 2 fully equipped kitchens to cater for different mealtimes and group preferences. The sumptuous top floor lounge and dining area can accommodate large groups in comfort and space, with stunning views down the Chamonix valley through the floor to ceiling windows and from the panoramic balcony or the outside spa hot-tub. A fabulous ski-in & ski-out location, it's only 150m walk to the lifts and close to the foot of the slopes, near the Vormaine beginners' ski area. Outside there is a large garden and two private car parks. The main dining area seats up to 14 with a further 6 in the kitchen. The lounge has comfortable seating areas for 12 with plenty of space to enjoy the central log fire. The 50" plasma with surround sound can be used to watch films from the extensive library or HD Free-Sat (French & English) programmes. Wi-Fi broadband is available throughout the chalet and there is a lap top computer for guests to use. The lounge and dining area is on the second floor of the chalet and is fronted with floor to ceiling windows leading out onto a panoramic balcony. The south facing views over the Mont Blanc massif are breathtaking. Guests can relax here with unobstructed frontline views of some of the most spectacular scenery the valley has to offer including the Aiguilles Rouges and Le Tour Glacier. There is outside seating and a gas BBQ for when the weather is suitable. The chef's kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary appliances to cook banquet meals. It has an oven, 4 ring hob, microwave, dishwasher, double sink, an American fridge freezer and sufficient cutlery, crockery & glassware for up to 20 diners. The pool room on the ground floor has a full size 8 ball pool table. The cinema room has a large screen, surround sound and an extensive film library. In addition to the X-Box games area & Sky TV in the Master Suite there is a second X-Box game station on the ground floor (bring your own games!). This also has Sky TV. For guests who like Scandinavian saunas this 8 person hot room is the perfect place to relax. It has both dry and steam-bio sauna functions. In winter and summer the outside hot-tub spa can acommodate 10 people in water of up to 40 degrees. There are air jets and under water lighting to adjust to suit your mood. The views from this spa are truly astounding! The equipment room has a hi-tech heated boot rack with warm air jets to both heat and dry your boots each day, the timer can be set to automatically cater for your requirements. The master suite is a large self contained area on the second floor sleeping up to four people in the double bedroom and adjoining twin bunk room. There is an en-suite bathroom with a corner bath, shower cubicle, two sinks and a separate WC. The lounge area seats 4 and has a 32" flat screen games area (No.1) with Sky TV and an X-Box. the valley. The second suite is on the first floor and also sleeps up to 4 persons in a double bedroom and a separate twin bunk room. These share their own adjoining shower cubicle and WC. The double bedroom has south facing views from its balcony. A double bedroom on the first floor contains an en-suite shower & WC and has sunny, south-facing views and a balcony. Location & Local Information Situated in the Haute-Savoie region of France, Chamonix is bordered by Switzerland and Italy and dominated by the incredible Aiguilles de Chamonix mountain chain which peaks at the top of Mont Blanc (4810m) - the highest in Western Europe. The local population of Chamonix numbers around 10,000 inhabitants but this figure swells to nearly ten times that with the influx of tourists, climbers, alpinists, backpackers, students and seasonnaires. There are two distinct seasons here: summer and winter, but the area is busy for most of the year. Whilst the principal town is of the same name, 'Chamonix' is often used in reference to the whole valley, stretching over 28km from Le Fayet to Switzerland. It is, however, made up of several distinct and charming villages including Servoz, Les Houches, Les Bossons, Les Praz, Les Tines, Argentiere and at the top of the valley the ancient village of Le Tour. Le Tour: Le Tour is an ancient village at the top of the Chamonix valley at 1500m altitude with one of the best snow records in the alps and a very sunny aspect with fabulous views of the Mont Blanc Massif, the Aiguilles Rouges and the Le Tour Glacier. It's a traditional Haute Savie hameau with three restaurants and a cafe. The Le Tour lift system at the top of the village has an ESF and takes skiiers to extensive beginners and intermediate areas. Next to the village is the Vormaine beginners ski area - ideal for small children or those on skis for the first time. In the summer many walking and mountain bike trails start in Le Tour and take you down the valley to Chamonix, past the most spectacular scenery imaginable. There is a shuttle bus (free with the carte d'hote card) regularly connecting Le Tour with the rest of the valley throughout the day. Argentiere: Argentiere is one of the foremost alpine resorts due to its enviable location at the base of Les Grands Montets - an immense ski area offering an array of pistes for beginner, intermediate and expert skiiers and vast powder fields of off piste in the winter and a universe of extraordinary beauty in the summer. It's height gives it the most reliable snow record in the Alps with good skiing conditions usually through to mid May. The old village is in a spectacular setting towards the head of the Chamonix valley and beneath the Argentiere Glacier. The village retains a picturesque mountain feel with a large number of traditional wooden houses, as well as ancient farmhouses. There is a newer side too though, with all the modern shops and services, a variety of cosy bars and restaurants. A free shuttle bus runs into Chamonix (4km) from Argentiere every 15 minutes throughout the day. Chamonix: Set at the foot of Mont Blanc, Chamonix is Europe's foremost alpine area and Page 5
is one of the most visited natural sites in the world. From the town centre, Europe's highest cable car will take you to the spectacular Aiguille du Midi at 3,842m and the start of the famous Vallee Blanche 16km ski run. The views from here really are literally breathtaking! A destination with a reputation for the extreme and this, whilst undoubtedly true, is matched by a wide array of sporting and leisure activities, peace and quiet, great nightlife, and superb scenery that can be enjoyed at whatever pace suits you. There really is something for everyone here. The lively streets of Chamonix are colourful with a mix of sports and fashion shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. Every Saturday morning the town hosts an outdoor market brimming with local crafts and produce. There is a cinema, a bowling alley, an ice rink, a large sports centre with a pool, gym and indoor climbing wall and numerous museums in which to while away the day. Page 6
