GETTING AROUND BY TAXI You can travel around the islands of Guadeloupe on a "Friendly Taxi". They offer quality services, shopping tours and daily excursions. At the airport, follow the blue "Friendly Taxi" logo or contact www.frenchcaribbeantaxi.com at +590 590 384 040 BY BUS There are buses that connect most towns, but outside of the central areas, the possibilities are pretty limited. If the connections fit in with your plans however, it's a great experience to try them out! Contact www.karulis.com at +590 590 242 606 BY CAR Renting a car is definitely the most convenient means of transportation. Compared to many roads in the Caribbean, the majority of Guadeloupe roads are well marked and in good condition. Because it s a French island, people drive on the right. Although many traffic signs are wordless international signs, visitors should be aware that road signs can be solely in French, so it's wise to learn a few basic words before taking to the streets.

RATES
POST CONFERENCE ACTIVITIES OPTION 1 : VOLCANO HIKE + HOT SPRINGS Date: November 28 Departure time: 7 am At 1,467 metres, La Soufrière volcano is the highest peak in the Eastern Antilles. Often called la vieille dame (the old lady) by locals, La Soufrière is 100,000 years old, which makes it a relatively young volcano, geologically speaking. It is located in the southern part of the Guadeloupe s national park, 5 km north of the small village of Saint-Claude. Access to the top of the Soufrière is possible via hiking trails. Starting from the Yellow Baths (Les Bains Jaunes hot springs), the hike will take you to the top in about 1 to 2 hours. Certain precautions are necessary: make sure to wear good hiking shoes, waterproof clothing and get enough water and snacks for the road. In case of heavy rain, the activity will be cancelled. English speaking guide and lunch on site. Cost per person: 55 Maximum number of participants: 20
OPTION 2 : KAYAKING IN THE GRAND CUL-DE- SAC MARIN Date: November 28 Departure time: 7 am Located in the North of Guadeloupe, between Grande-Terre and Basse- Terre, the Grand Cul-desac marin is a 22 km² marine reserve boarded by 16 km² of coral reefs, coastal wetland forests flooded by salt water, and mangrove swamps. This unique ecosystem is home to hundreds of species of birds, turtles and fishes. A large coral reef closes the bay and protects it against swell, allowing the various species of fish to thrive in this remarkable habitat. Explore the mangroves and the lagoon and its rich fauna and flora by kayak, snorkel on the coral reef or relax on a white sand islet, the choice is yours! English speaking guide and lunch on site. Cost per person: 30 Maximum number of participants: 30
OPTION 3: AIR ACTIVITIES Located on the south side of Grande-Terre, the seaside resort of Saint- François is brimming with attractions for holidaymakers. Its superb sandy beaches and proximity to the famous Castles Headland (Pointe des Châteaux), with its wild cliffs reminiscent of the landscapes of Brittany, no doubt have something to do with it! Caraïbe Parachutisme invites you to an unforgettable skydiving adventure and offers you three options: Skydiving baptism: 315 includes video of the jump (16 people max). Motorized ultralight glider tour : 50 per person Fly over Guadeloupe for a half hour in a cessna aircraft: 200 for four persons (50 per person per hakf-hour) Please note that these activities are by nature very dependent on the weather and may be cancelled or changed depending on the conditions. Maximum number of participants: 30
OPTION 4: DAY-TRIP TO LES SAINTES An archipelago within an archipelago. That would perfectly describe Les Saintes. Two different islands, one, Terre-de-Haut very touristy, and the other, Terre-de-Bas, more quiet, are members of the very select club of the most beautiful bays in the world. And like the bay at Rio de Janeiro, the harbour is a beauty: a calm, C-shaped body of clear water. It s presided over by Fort Napoleon. Built in the 1700s, so it could repel the British, it was destroyed by the Royal Navy, rebuilt, and is still in excellent shape, with the original stone walls, lookout towers, barracks, dungeon cells and iguanas (no worries, they re more afraid of you than you are of them). Galleries within the complex feature depictions of sea battles and an astonishingly good collection of modern art. These tiny, hilly, semi-arid isles south of Basse-Terre were never conducive to growing cane, so the people you see in les Saintes, are mostly descendants of French settlers who never imported slaves. The small town of Terre-de- Haut have sprouted a few shops and galleries, cafes and restaurants. Some day-trippers rent scooters or just walk up the hills, admire the locals neat, tiled-roofed houses fronted by pots of flowers; or get themselves to Pain de Sucre or Pompière Beach. Some arrange to go diving in waters where the coral hasn t been strangled by a million rubber flippers. There are two sunken ships in the harbour, vestige of an era where French and English were playing at naval battle. Cost per person: 25 Maximum number of participants: N/A Inscription activities: You will soon be able to make your choice in the form available on the DLT website.
