Executive Summary ASM Report The Craigavon Central area is widely regarded as one of Northern Ireland retail success stories with around 70 big brand and independent stores based in the area. In addition further occupiers in close proximity include Omniplex Cinema (part of the Craigavon Leisure Village), the former Craigavon Borough Council Offices and Civic Centre, Craigavon Courthouse and Marlborough House office building. Capital Grant Assistance Capital Grant Assistance for tourist accommodation projects is available for new schemes. While the conditions for such assistance are regularly reviewed Capital Grant Assistance (known as Selective Finance Assistance) is available from Invest Northern Ireland for projects that meet the programme criteria and which are to be developed outside a 10 mile radius from Belfast city centre. Schemes must have at least 30 double/family rooms and the hotel must be professionally managed and ideally be marketed and branded through a known product brand. A grant of up to 30% of qualifying costs could be made available but this would be conditional on a number of factors including the size of the organisation developing the hotel. There are plans for a new further education college close to the site and also plans to build a new 30m Leisure Centre and Watersports Centre. These are expected to open in 2019. It is anticipated that the new multifunction facility will significantly enhance the boroughs leisure facilities and be one of the best examples of indoor and outdoor leisure provisions in Northern Ireland. Craigavon Area Hospital is located within 2.2 miles of the development site, which is also a similar distance to Carn and Seagoe Industrial Estates where a number of high profile international businesses including Almac, Thompson Aero Seating, Moy Park and Ulster Carpets are located.
