THE REINVENTION OF NEW YORK CITY A National Trust Signature Tour O C T O B E R 1 7 T O 2 2, 2 0 1 8
Dear National Trust Traveler, To Le Corbusier, it was a beautiful catastrophe. To Frank Lloyd Wright, a monument to the power of money and greed. And to O. Henry, a great place if they ever finish it. Whatever one thinks of New York City, it is never boring. Its never-ending process of reinvention, from up-and-coming Dutch village to The Greatest City in the World, takes one s breath away. We invite you to join us next fall for a National Trust Signature Tour of New York City. Experience the city s boundless energy and witness how it is accommodating rapid changes in technology and lifestyles. Tour once-faded neighborhoods that have been revitalized, marvel at the transformation of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and experience The High Line, an antiquated infrastructure that has been reimagined as an urban park and a must-see destination. Spend five days immersed in the city s past, present, and future as you explore downtown Manhattan, the Lower East Side, Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and Brooklyn. Stay in a 1920s property that is a member of Historic Hotels of America and enjoy leisure time to make your own discoveries. As Walt Whitman said long ago of his adopted city, There is no place like it, no place with an atom of its glory, pride, and exultancy. We look forward to welcoming you to the Big Apple next fall.
