Overview SECTION 1: THE GICC GICC Customer Service The GICC professional management and staff consistently earn the highest ratings from event planners and their guests for service, support and attitude. We live by the following commitments and policies to ensure your event receives superior customer service: People: We hire only people with a passion and personality for service. They are proactive in addressing requests and resolving problems and they have the experience to get it right: GICC employees average more than 10 years of employment with our Convention Center. Process: The GICC assigns a three-person team consisting of a sales manager, catering manager and event coordinator for each event. They work together as a seamless extension of your planning team, supported by a computer-based system to stay abreast of all planning. Product: The city of College Park keeps our facility in like-new condition. Customer Service Committee: A committee of hand-selected representatives from each GICC department and our on-site contractors meets monthly to set and report on service goals. For more details about working with us, see Section 4: Services, page 17. We start by learning exactly what the client wants. Event planners know their events intimately. Their wants and needs are subjective, and they should be, because they know what works best for them and their show and everyone who s involved. It s up to us to discover exactly what they want, determine how we should set up our facility and management plan to accommodate them and deliver. That s how we handle each event. Mercedes Miller, GICC Assistant Director For more information or to reserve a date for your next event, contact Sales at 770.997.3566. CLIENT COMMENTS We love the GICC. The people are very responsive; they will do whatever they can to make it a good experience for us. Dr. Traci Redish, Conference Chair, Georgia Educational Technology Conference The entire GICC staff from the sales team to the catering team is great to work with. They are real team players. Stephaney Foster, Conferences and Conventions Coordinator, Organization Management Group, Inc. The staff at the GICC makes the event a great experience for everyone that is a key reason for us being here for the third consecutive year. Scott Shelar Director, Construction Education Foundation of Georgia We keep coming back to the GICC because of the people. They try very hard to satisfy all our requests. Plus they maintain the building extremely well. It always looks like new. Yvonne Tyson, Meeting Planner, Primerica Financial Services 10

GICC s Culinary Arts Center Catering and Dining 2 Catering and Dining The GICC food service is operated by Atlanta s acclaimed caterer, Proof of the Pudding. Meals and presentation are comparable to a fine dining restaurant. The quality is excellent across the board, from elegant dinners in the International Ballroom to the selections at the concession stands in the exhibit halls. Gourmet selections SECTION 2: CATERING AND DINING The GICC Culinary Arts Center is a 9,800-sq.-ft. kitchen complex that boasts the latest in food preparation equipment, which allows the chef and kitchen staff to prepare and serve gourmet meals for dinners of up to 4,000 guests. The facility includes a tasting room for meeting planners to meet with catering staff and test menu selections. A service corridor between ballroom and kitchen provides for efficient delivery of meals and service as excellent as the food. Chef s Suggestions A few things to remember to ensure a most delicious event: Be flexible to allow us to take advantage of seasonal offerings and to use our creativity. We can make our most outstanding meals by offering items in their peak season. You can certainly request your favorites, but with some additional touches we can add some excitement to the meal. The more you can tell us about your attendees and program, the better we can help you plan a great meal. Think outside the box. There are many ways to have a great function without blowing your budget. A meal does not have to be boring, just because you have a budget. To contact a catering representative, call 770.997.3566 13

SECTION 3: GETTING HERE Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport ATL SkyTrain GICC Main Entrance Getting Here 3 Getting Here The GICC is the nation s most accessible convention center. The GICC is just as convenient by car near the juncture of two major U.S. interstates connecting north and south, I-75 and I-85, and near I-20 connecting east and west. The heart of Atlanta is just 10 minutes away by rental car or by Atlanta s rapid transit railway system, MARTA. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport The opening of a fifth runway in 2006, completion of the ATL SkyTrain elevated railway and Rental Car Center in 2009, and preparations for a new International Terminal to open in 2011 head up a long list of improvements in a $6.2 billion expansion program helping the world s busiest airport keep its ranking as the world s best airport operation. Details: The fifth runway virtually eliminated holding patterns for landing aircraft and dramatically improved on-time arrivals The nation s first perimeter taxiway and additional gates adding capacity and scheduling flexibility for airlines Redesigned concourses featuring bright looks and new concessions New check-in areas for improved traffic flow An automated baggage screening system eliminating the need for passengers to haul their baggage from ticket counters to separate screening stations Wireless access throughout Cooperative efforts with the TSA (Transportation Security Administration), including additional checkpoints, for improved flow through the security gates Named most efficient of 142 major airports worldwide by the Air Transport Research Society Visit the airport website at www.atlanta-airport.com ATL SkyTrain The elevated ATL SkyTrain rail system shuttles GICC guests from the airport terminal to the GICC/GatewayCenter via a two-minute ride, and on to the Rental Car Center. 12 cars, each with 52-passenger capacity Transports up to 10,000 passengers per hour over 1.5 miles of elevated railway Daytime wait between trains, approximately 3 minutes; no more than 10 minutes in off-peak hours Covered walkways from train to GICC and Marriott Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel 14

Three-minute ride from airport via ATL SkyTrain elevated rail system 67.5-acres-site housing all 10 airport-area rental car operations 8,700 rental car parking spaces Replaces on-site airport operations Parking GICC s emphasis on convenience extends to guest parking: 2,000 surface spaces, including 30 handicap spaces in five conjoined lots at the east and west entrances. The parking layout is consistent with the building itself everything on one level. Parking rates are also flat and modest. The lot is attended by a knowledgeable, courteous staff.
