Tuesday 10/21/08 Tour # 1: Hospitality Suite open until Midnight The following Optional tours are available: Harley-Davidson Factory Tour Optional FREE admission. 8:00am tour This tour is a 45 minute WALKING tour. There are no stops or breaks during the tour. You must provide your own transportation to the factory approximately 3 miles from the Headquarters Hotel. Tour details: Established as an assembly facility in 1973, Harley-Davidson Vehicle Operations in York, Pa. is the largest Harley-Davidson manufacturing facility, employing roughly half the company's production workforce. The York facility covers more than 230 acres and has over 1.5 million square feet under roof. Your journey begins with an introductory movie and continues on the factory floor where you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the people, processes and products of York Vehicle Operations. You'll be guided through various manufacturing and assembly areas, watch as parts are formed, welded, machined and polished, and see freshly painted and chrome plated parts. Then it's on to the end of the line, where every motorcycle is roll-tested prior to crating and shipping. Tour # 2: York County Heritage Trust Optional 10:00am 4:00pm $6 adults, $5 seniors USS York County LST-1175 artifacts including the ship s bell will be on display in the Historical Society Museum. We are diligently pursuing Local and State Dignitaries, Press, and Television to increase the public awareness of this exhibit including the attendance of our shipmates during our Reunion. Currently we are not providing transportation to the Historical Society Museum. However, if we get enough shipmates and guests interested in attending the Historical Society Museum exhibits, we will arrange bus transportation for an additional fee. Please be sure to indicate your interest on the registration form. From quilts to tiny photographs, the Historical Society Museum and Library houses various exhibits and an extensive research library.
