ITALY: ROME/NAPLES/AMALFI COAST From 13 th April to 22 nd April 2018 (10 days/9nights) GROUP 15/20 PAX ITINERARY PROPOSAL Day 1: 13 th April ROME Arrival at Rome Fiumicino Airport and meeting with our English Speaking assistant for meet & transfer. Then transfer by private coach to hotel in Rome city center. Arrival at hotel and check-in, if possible or storage of luggage. In the afternoon, meeting with driver for half day Baroque Rome. Meeting with English Speaking guide and starting of walking city tour (max 3hrs): The tour includes some of the most famous squares in the centre of the city as Spanish Square and its famous Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Colonna, the Pantheon and Navona Square. If not closed to tours, due to religious ceremonies, a church can be included in the walking tour, for instance it could be S. Ignazio or S. Luigi de' Francesi. At the end, return to hotel by coach. Little time to freshen up and then, meeting with driver and English Speaking assistant for transfer by private coach to local restaurant in Rome for dinner. Vatican city tour (max. 4hrs): The tour includes the most important collections in the Vatican Museums. The Museo Pio Clementino and the Gallery of the Candelabras, of the Tapestries, of the Maps. It continues with the so called rooms of Raphael, in the apartment of Julius the second and finally it ends up in the Sistine Chapel. After that, if not closed due to religious ceremonies, the tour ends up in St. Peter's Basilica. Lunch at local restaurant. 1
After lunch, proceed with the Ancient Rome city tour (max. 3hrs): Colosseum, Constantine Arch, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill. Entrance to the Colosseum and a walk inside the Roman Forum is the main part of the tour; after that, from the car, we see the Palatine Hill and the ruins of Imperial Palace and the Circus Maximum, the Theatre of Marcello, Venice Sq. and the Monument to king Vittorio Emanuele II. At the end, return to hotel by coach. Day 4: 16 th April NAPLES - CAPRI Breakfast at hotel. Meeting at hotel with driver for transfer by private coach to Naples Port to embark for a full day excursion to Capri Island. At arrival meeting with our English Speaking Guide for departure to Capri by hydrofoil. Arrival and tour of the Isle by private minivans. Capri Island is considered a real miracle of nature between sky and sea, emerging from the abysses. The marine caves, the unique stacks, the green vegetation of cliffs, the wonderful views, nature, art, culture and the jet set society, all these things make this island the most celebrated and dreamt of islands. The famous Piazzetta is the name the islanders give to the Piazza Umberto, which is the real centre of the touristic and jet set life. You will also visit the Villa San Michele where In the garden you can admire a series of characteristic plants of the Mediterranean flora - such as camellias, hydrangeas, beautiful rose bushes, pines and cypresses - surrounded by a typical white columned pergola, one of the characteristics of the local villas. Also in the garden you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Gulf of Naples. The excursion will touch the height of its splendour with the visit of the wonderful Blue Grotto, one of the natural beauties of the island, best known in the world for the particular play of light that is created in its waters by the bright blue reflections of water, an effect due to the sunlight that enters the cavity a second entrance located below sea level and 18 meters high from the bottom (the visit will be done weather permitting). Return to Naples by hydrofoil and transfer back to hotel by private coach. Proceed by coach to a local Farmhouse to start an unforgettable day enjoying an half day pizza cooking lesson in a special location where you can taste the real atmosphere of Campania region, being involved not only in tasting the specialities of Campania region but also in the preparation of some delicious products like the famous mozzarella cheese and the limoncello. It will be as living in a popular party Upon arrival at local Farmhouse, will start a visit of the field (about 30/40 minutes) followed by spinning mozzarella demonstration and pizza cooking lesson. Arrival and meeting with English Speaking guide for half day Sorrento walking tour: During the tour you will see the cathedral with its delicate works in marble and wood, the sculptures that decorate the altar and the magnificent paintings. We will continue to Via San Cesareo and Largo Dominova where the church tower is located. Afterwards you will proceed to the historic center and the church San Francesco with its cloister, that sometimes serves as beautiful back-drop for music concerts and art exhibitions. Near the church you will find public gardens with a splendid view on the Gulf of Naples. Return to the hotel by your own (hotel is about 150 meters walking). Upon arrival in Pompeii, departure for a guided tour around the excavations: walking through the ancient streets you can visit the houses, with their wonderful frescoes, once residences of roman patricians before the tremendous eruption in 79AD. The afternoon will be spent visiting Mount Vesuvius, climbing to the summit of the Volcano where there will be a guided tour to the crater and where there are wonderful views of the gulf of Naples. Return to hotel in Sorrento by private coach and little time to freshen up before dinner. Day 7: 19 th April SORRENTO POSITANO AMALFI - RAVELLO Breakfast at hotel and meeting at hotel with our English Speaking guide and driver for a full day excursion to Amalfi Coast by private coach. Departure to Positano, The pearl of the Amalfi Coast with its narrow streets and winding pathways, the sea and the sand, the typical shops, from ceramics to linen. Then proceed to Amalfi, one of the oldest and most potent Marine Republics with the beautiful Cathedral of Saint Andrew who dominates the main square. The tour ends in Ravello with a visit to Villa Rufolo, dating to the 17th century, inspiring Wagner in the composition of his masterpiece Parsifal. On the way back to the hotel, stop for a Limoncello Tasting in a typical local shop.
