rban Ultra Desert Stinker, Dubai - EVENT Details The two-stage desert run will start and finish in an area of Bab Al Shams desert. See map for location start and both courses. Your Stage 1 10k + 10k or 20k + 20k distance will begin on Friday 14th night at 7pm (Check in MUST be before 5pm for gear check and briefing), where you will run your selected distance in the dark on a designated flat course. You will then return to camp for your (own) food and fun and to prepare for the morning s start gun. Stage 2 will start at 7am on Saturday 15th and take you over the dunes. (Check in MUST be before 6am for gear check and briefing). Both dune and flat courses are marked approx every 500m. Flat course is marked with light-reflective tape on fences and poles. Dunes course is marked with red/ white striped tape on poles and trees. A campsite area will be designated next to the start/ finish, but all camping equipment like tent, sleeping bags, BBQ food, firewood, comfort items etc. are your own responsibility. PS. It s no-frills camping = no shower = prepare to get a bit stinky! There is obviously the option of booking yourself a room (with shower and soft comfy bed) at the Bab Al Shams Resort, but we would love to have everyone in one place for the social aspect of it too. (Water and energy drinks will be provided during the race at the checkpoints (CP1 and CP2) but please make sure that your obligatory hydration pack is fully filled from your own supplies before the start of Stage 1). Please be respectful of your surroundings and keep impact to a minimum. Leaving nothing but footprints when we leave. Most importantly - HAVE FUN! FUNDRAISING A quick word about where your money is going. All of our time and effort has been voluntary in the organisation of this event. Everything in your goody bag has been generously given by sponsors and EVERY SINGLE Dirham of your entry fee is going to Macmillan Cancer Support. Originally, we had planned to also give individually raised amounts to the same charirty, however, those funds will now all be donated to the Richard Holland Back on Your Bike Fund to care for Richard during his rehabilitation following his cycling accident in Dubai, leaving him in a coma and requiring extensive care back in South Africa. We hope that you see this as a worthwhile cause and help us raise as much as possible towards this fund. Don t forget, the individuals raising the most can win these great prizes - a stay at the new Sofitel The Palm, a Fuji Camera, Passes to Wild Wadi and Wadi Adventure!
