Your guide is one of the few exhibition managers of the Louvre, and has been working in this «huge machine» for 9 years. He does not only show you the collections of the different departments of the Museum, but also explains how the artworks are being moved, and how shows are organized within the collections. He has many anecdotes to share as his job consists of coordinating the curators and all the different services of the museum that are included in the preparation of an exhibition (registration, transport, insurance, conference, communication, publishing) as well as the artists themselves for contemporary art exhibitions. You will discover that behind its glass pyramid, deep underground, the Louvre is a city in itself.
It has its own fire station (45 firemen working all day), enormous lifts, an auditorium for hosting huge concerts, various workshops, etc. The delivery zone, through which every work of art passes, is very impressive.
