The Outlander Experience Tour 10 Day Luxury Tour Personally Conducted by Jeff Robertson, Tours-of-Scotland.com 2016 Dates: 24 June - 3 July and 15-24 Aug Come join us for the exciting Outlander Experience where you will be swept back into the romantic world of Jamie and Claire. Our tour will take you to all the major filming locations of Series 1 of this epic drama and much more TheOutlanderExperience.com Scroll down for complete 10 Day Tour Itinerary

2016 Outlander Experience Tour Daily Itinerary Day 1 You will be personally met at Edinburgh Airport and whisked off in our deluxe mini coach and head straightway to Linlithgow, a short drive from the airport. Here we check into Bo mains 4 star Guest House with sweeping views down to the River Forth. We will have time to relax in this beautiful location after your journey taking in the vistas which are refreshing for both the body and the soul. In the afternoon we tour Linlithgow Palace once a favored residence of the Stuart Kings and the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. This location stands in for the prison entrance and corridors where Jamie was imprisoned. The Boness & Kinnel Railway station was transformed to double as a wartime London railway station where Claire and Frank have this dramatic farewell scene. We will enjoy a trip on this very same Steam Train and experience the thrill of a bygone era. Dinner in Linlithgow & then return to Bo mains Guest House for the night.

Day 2 This morning we go to Hopetoun House, the largest stately house in all of Scotland. This is the location for the dueling scene with Jamie against the Macdonalds. We will take a guided tour of this magnificent house. Midhope House is the location for this scene at the steps of Jamie and Claire s beloved Lallybroch. The castle is actually a ruin and the inside scenes of the castle were shot at the studio in Cumbernauld. You will be able to get photos of the outside.. Standing, looking out over the Firth of Fouth near Edinburgh is the impressive Blackness Castle. This 15 th century fortress provides the setting for the Fort William headquarters of Black Jack Randall. The castle is called the ship that never sailed as It was built in the shape of a ship. We will take a guided tour of this historic castle.

Day 3 The stunning Doune Castle plays a leading role in the show and substitutes for the fictional Castle Leoch, home of the Clan MacKenzie. In the tour of this castle we will find out how grand banquets would have been prepared in the kitchen and served in the Great Hall. Not far from Doune Castle is the City of Stirling which at one time was the Capital of Scotland. Here we visit the mighty Stirling Castle which is steeped in a thousand years of history and one of the most interesting castle tours in Scotland. Culross, a rustic town in Fife, (the fictional Cranesmuir in the series). It shows to some degree what such a town in 17 th & 18 th century Scotland would have looked like. A stroll along it s charming cobbled pathways seems to put us back in time. Behind the Palace is where Claire worked in the herb gardens of fictional Castle Leoch.

Day 4 Glencorse Old Kirk, near Edinburgh. This setting is where the wedding of Jamie and Claire takes place. A lush parkland, with a lake, and a beautiful garden, Glencorse is a wonderful place and one of the most romantic wedding venues imaginable. Preston Mill is one of the oldest working water-driven mills in Scotland. Jamie managed to stay under water while the Redcoats were looking for him. We will see the mill operating and enjoy the scenery surrounding the mill. Edinburgh- Princes Street is one of the most famous streets in Europe. We give you some free time for shopping and exploring on your own and afterward meet up for dinner.

Day 5 The town of Falkland was substituted for the 1940 s Inverness in one of the series first scenes. You can stand by the Bruce Fountain where Frank witnesses the ghost of Jamie looking up at Claire in the window. The Covenanters hotel is the location of Mrs. Baird s Guesthouse where Claire and Frank started their honeymoon. Your heart will start racing with excitement the instant you see it. Just down the street you will see the shop window where Claire bought her first vase. Falkland Palace was the favourite retreat of the Stuart monarches especially Mary Queen of Scots who visited often. Mary played tennis on one of the first tennis courts built in 1541 and which has survived to this day. We finish our day with dinner at the Waterfront Hotel overlooking the harbor in Anstruther. This small fishing town has the most picturesque harbor of the many that are along the beautiful coast of Fife.

Day 6 Glamis Castle, considered to be the finest example of Baronial architecture in all of Scotland, should never be missed on any tour of Scotland Expert guides conduct an incredible tour of the castle. Princess Margaret, the present Queens sister, was born in the castle and there are many mementos of visits of the Royal Family over the years. Loch Rannoch in Perthshire, right in the heart of Scotland, is the location for the standing stones of Craigh Na Dun. The whole Outlander epic story swirls around the stones when Claire is transported back to 1734. Even now the location of the stones is somewhat of a mystery but I will guide you to the exact spot. The stones were removed after filming but I wouldn t be surprised at all if they suddenly appear again. Tonight we stay in our own castle in The Atholl Palace Hotel. It was built in the Victorian era close to the railway station which was the only mode of transport back then. This Grand Dame of a hotel still exudes the splendor of times gone by.

Day 7 After breakfast and a short distance away to the north is the famous House of Bruar, a wonderful emporium of Scottish foods and wares, sometimes known as The Harrods of the North. Great for looking and shopping with unusual Highland foods & items. The Highland Folk Museum is where you will see replicas of Highland crofts (homes) and learn how people lived & worked in the 18 th century. This site was used for several scenes including the MacKenzie village, Dougal collecting rent and Jamie and Claire sheltering in the first episode. Continuing on we visit the famous Battlefield of Culloden, where Bonnie Prince Charlies fateful campaign came to an end. Their new impressive Visitor Center is extremely well designed and brings us back historically to the time of the battle. Claire knew that this battle was coming very soon and she warned Jamie of the impending doom. We stay the night at the beautiful Invernairne Hotel in Nairn by the shores of the Morey Firth. It affords us a beautiful view over the water and an excellent walk along the promenade in the evening. In the north of Scotland in the summer it stays light until 11.00 PM. and sometimes even later.

Day 8 Heading west from Nairn we are on the hunt for the Loch Ness Monster. We will visit the Loch Ness Centre where we will see a video presentation of all the attempts made to find the monster since the 1930 s. After our visit to the Loch Ness Exibition we board the Jacobite Warrior for a cruise on Loch Ness. Our two hour cruise will take us up the full length of the loch with a stop at Urquhart Castle which occupies a strategic spot overlooking the Loch. You can climb the tower of the castle and get a magnificent view of the loch and keep an eye out for Nessie, the loch Ness Monster The theater in the visitor center has a very good video of the history of the Castle. There is also a lovely tea room for a quick and delicious refreshment break.

Day 9 Fort William was the headquarters of Black Jack Randall and Jamie was captured & imprisoned here in episode 5. Along with other forts, Fort William was built to pacify the highland clans. There is very little left of the Fort and Blackness Castle was used as a stand-in for the series. The town is the second largest in the highlands and a busy place. You will have free time to see this lovely town and enjoy the unique shops along the High Street with their special Scottish products. Journeying south we travel through the famous Glencoe, one of the most dramatic landscapes in Scotland. The glen is a magnet for avid hill climbers throughout the year. We will stop for a lunch break at the Clachaig Inn deep in the heart of Glencoe. Sitting outside on their deck and being surrounded by mountains is somewhat of a spiritual experience. Leaving Glencoe we drive across Scotland from the west coast to the east coast and arrive at the City of Perth. We check into the Huntingtower Hotel. The hotel is a Grand Edwardian building where we can have dinner, relax and enjoy the surrounding beauty of the grounds of the Hotel.

Day 10 After a good night s sleep and our full Scottish breakfast we transport you to Edinburgh Airport for your flight home. It s time to bid a fond farewell to Bonnie Scotland and we hope that you have enjoyed every moment and have had the experience of a lifetime. Haste ye back!
