Frequently Asked Questions 1. Do I need to apply visa for visiting China? Yes, any non-chinese passport holder needs a visa of entering into China. 2. Is it safe to travel in China? Yes, China is regarded as the safe travel destination in the world. However, as a traveler, we advise you be cautious in China as you would be anywhere else. Serious crime against foreigner is rare. 3. Do I need vaccinations to enter China? Normally, you do not need any vaccinations to enter China except that you come from the injected area. We suggest you follow the advice from World Health Organization and your doctors. 4. Can I bring in Chinese currency into China for the sake of my convenience? Yes, you can take RMB into China with limited value. Any passenger who carry over RMB20,000 in cash or foreign currencies with value exceeding US5,000 in cash should be declared in Customs. 5. Is it necessary to purchase any travel insurance when traveling to China? Yes, we strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance before departure to safeguard any unforeseen circumstances especially protection of medical requirement on the tour as it can be very costly for foreigner having medical treatment in China. 6. What are the hotel conditions and facilities in China? International chain of hotels are all established in the major cities of China that offer top class of hospitality service. 7. Is internet available in the China hotels? Yes, most 3 star hotels and above will provide internet service in your room with a reasonable fee or at the business centre. 8. Can you confirm a non-smoking room for me in China hotels? Yes, a non-smoking room can be arranged. 9. What kind of meals will be available on tour? All breakfast are served at your hotel with western style of buffet including fruits, salad and cereals. Lunch and dinner are usually Chinese food. 10. Can you arrange vegetarian meals for me? Yes, we do provide vegetarian meals if required. 11. What should I do if my flight is canceled or delayed? If your international flight is cancelled, delayed affecting you arrive on time, you should contact us immediately so that we can make the necessary changes to minimize any inconvenience. 12. What sort of aircrafts are usually for China domestic flights? We usually arrange for a Boeing or Airbus for our clients 13. What are the train travel conditions in China? Train travel is an interesting, inexperienced and safe way of getting around China. In China, the accommodation on the train are divided into four categories, soft-sleeper, soft-seat, hard-sleeper and hard-seat. Usually, the soft sleeper carriage is airconditioning which is what we suggest you to take. 14. Can I use my credit cards in China? Yes, the following credit cards are accepted in China-Master Card, Visa, American Express, JCB and Diners Card. These credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, department stores and shopping centre located in tourist area. 15. What is the tipping practice for visitors to China? It is a common practice for visitors to tip the tour guide and driver in recognition of their good service. It is not customary to leave tips at hotel or local restaurant as the bill usually includes 10-15% service charge. 16. What is the limitation of checkin baggage of traveling on China domestic flights? Any passenger holding on economy class adult ticket is entitled to check-in luggage of 22 KG (about 44 pounds) free of charge. 17. Can I use my mobile phone in China? Yes, you can enjoy GSM networks provide coverage in the major cities. 18. What is the best time to go to Tibet? It is recommended that one visits Tibet around May to July and September to October. You may expect heavy rainfall during August. 19. What should I do to avoid mountain sickness? You should never be nervous and worried about your trip. If you have respiratory problems, we advise you to postpone your trip. A thorough physical check up before your trip is necessary. You should not do anything strenuous on the first day and take a good rest. Do not rely too much on oxygen equipment all the time, so that you can accommodate yourself to the high altitude as early as possible. 20. What is the general weather condition for Yangtze River Cruise? Generally speaking, it is windy, humid and few sunshine. The average temperature is ranging from 30C in July to 10C in January. Spring and Autumn is the best season for river cruise. 21. What is the best time to travel to Korea? Autumn (September November) and spring (March May) are the most comfortable seasons to visit. 22. What types of meals are served on Korea tours? On our short stay programs and group tours, breakfast will be served in your hotels and will consist mainly American breakfast except if stay at local suburban accommodations, Korean type breakfast may be served instead. Lunches will be served at local restaurants whereas dinners usually at travelers own expense in order to provide flexibility of their choices. Korean food is generally hot and spicy compared to Chinese. 23. HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD A ALLO- CATE AS TIPPING FOR KOREA TOURS? Tipping is most appreciated as it will be treated as part of the Local Guide and Driver service fee. For those traveling under short stay programs and group tours. 24. Terms & Conditions Reservation & Deposit Upon confirmation of your booking, a deposit of $300 per person is to be collected by Legend Asia within 7 days. Balance of Payment The final balance is due 60 days prior to departure. Bookings made within 60 days shall pay in full within 3 working days or we may consider your booking cancelled. Cancellation by Legend Asia Legend Asia reserves the right to cancel any trip due to insufficient members or those guaranteed trips prior departure due to terrorism, natural disasters, and political instability or any external events which make it unviable to operate. In such a case, alternative tour will be offered. Should alternatives not be acceptable, Legend Asia will refund the full payment but will not responsible for any incidental expenses such as visas, travel insurance or loss of enjoyment. Cancellation by Client We treat all cancellations on the date written cancellation is received by Legend Asia with charges stipulated as follows. 1. More than 60 days prior departure- loss deposit 2. Between 30-59 days, 50% of total tour cost or loss of deposit whichever is higher 3. 29 days or less prior to departure, 100% of total booking cost. Please note that no refund will be made or any unused portion once the trip has started. Administration fees including transfer fee and amendment fee will also be charged for any cancellation refunds. Amendment Fees Amendment to confirmed booking - $30 per transaction Amendment within 30 days of departure - $50 per transaction Cancellation fees will apply to transfers within 60 days of departure. Name transfer is not allowed once a booking is confirmed. This will be regarded as a cancellation and fees apply accordingly. Please note that the amendment fee is not including any addition charges levied by hotels, ground operators or airlines in conjunction of your tour booking alteration if any. Validity The prices and contents of this brochure are based on the costs, exchange rates at the time of printing current as 1 December 2008. However, this does not apply to any changes by tax, fuel surcharge levied by airlines, currency fluctuation or any uncontrollable factors; Legend Asia reserves the right to alter the prices any time even after receipt of balance payments from the client. Legend Asia will make every effort to keep you informed of any changes, but cannot be held liable for any alternations made to published itineraries. Travel Insurance Travel insurance is a required condition for joining our tours. Your travel insurance must provide full cover against personal accident, medical expenses, emergency repatriation, personal items, cancellation and curtailment. Travel Documents Client must carry a passport valid for 6 months beyond the duration of the trip and have obtained the requisite visas when traveling. Legend Asia accepts no responsibility for any failure in this respect. Health Requirements Clients are required to observe and familiarize themselves with any health requirements for the countries traveling to. It is highly recommended that clients should consult doctor for their health condition before departure. Travelers for age over 70 should obtain a letter of fitness to travel and submit to us along with their booking forms. Responsibility Legend Asia (herewith called the Company) acts as a coordinator for all persons taking these tours in the making of all arrangements for transportation, sightseeing and hotel accommodation. The Company does not own, manage control or operate any transportation vehicle, any hotel or restaurant or any other supplier of services. All coupons receipts and tickets are issued subject to the terms and conditions specified by the law of the country where the services are provided. The company acts only as an agent for the owner contractors and suppliers of transportation and/or other related travel services provided and assumes no responsibility for the loss or damage or claims howsoever caused arising directly or indirectly from accidents loss or damage to person or property, transport failure, strikes, wars uprising or acts of God etc over which the company has no control.
