DAY 1: USA / FRANCE (Friday) Fly through the night to Paris, capital of France. DAY 2: PARIS / BAYEUX (Saturday) Welcome to France! Meet your Forum Tour Manager at the airport in Paris. Board your bus to the Normandy region and visit the Tapisserie de Bayeux, one of the greatest medieval artworks. It depicts the story of Harold, William the Conqueror, and the Norman conquest of England in 1066. Then, check in at your hotel and take a minute to freshen up. Dinner with your group at a local restaurant. Night accommodation in Bayeux. DAY 3: BAYEUX / ARROMANCHE / ST. MALO (Sunday) After breakfast, board your bus to Arromanches and visit the Musée du Débarquement where you will learn about the D-Day landing. Continue to Coleville-sur-mer. During a private service, pay tribute to the 9,386 fallen Americans at the World War II Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial and lay a wreath of flowers to honour their memory on behalf of your school. Stop to see the Pointe du Hoc Ranger Memorial, commemorating the heroic raid of the American Second Ranger Battalion and the forces involved in the Normandy landings. This afternoon, continue to Saint-Malo, a town famed for its seafood specialities. Later, check-in at your hotel and head to dinner at a local restaurant. Night accommodation in St. Malo. DAY 4: ST. MALO / MONT SAINT MICHEL / LOCHES (Monday) Today, drive to the 1000 year-old Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel. This masterpiece of architecture rises from the rock and is surrounded by sea and sand. After free time for lunch, board your bus to the Loire Valley. Drive to the medieval town of Loches for dinner and overnight. DAY 5: CHENONCEAU / AMBOISE / CHARTRES (Tuesday) After breakfast, discover Château de Chenonceau. Remarkable for its architecture and history, it is also known for its fine quality of collections. Explore the gardens and maze, rebuilt exactly from Catherine de Medici s plans. Enjoy lunch at La Cave aux Fouées, a caveman themed restaurant (subject to availability). Enter the gothic Château d'amboise. Continue to Chartres for dinner and night accommodation.
DAY 6: CHARTRES / LISSES (Wednesday) After breakfast, go on a walking tour around the historical centre of Chartres and discover the picturesque streets with their ancient half-timbered houses and old bridges. Meet your local guide for a visit of the impressive Chartres Cathedral. With 2,600m² of stained glass lighting up the heart of the nave, this monumental building is a model of gothic architecture. Next, visit the Centre international du Vitrail and attend a stained-glass workshop! Learn about the different stages of designing stained-glass and the techniques of medieval and contemporary stained-glass artists. This afternoon, board your private bus to Lisses/Bondoufle and meet your host family. Dinner and night accommodation with your host family. LISSES EN FAMILLE Located 35 km south of Paris, the family network is made up of families living in Lisses and in surrounding towns (Bondoufle, Evry among others). The home of the family network consists of typical French towns that belong to the same community or communauté d agglomération. Paris is easily accessible by RER train, on the D Line, from Evry-Courcouronnes station to Châtelet-Les Halles (40 min. total). Students will stay 2 per family and contact information of the family will be sent approximately 2 to 4 weeks prior to departure. Host families are usually located 5-15 minutes from the station (by bus). The Family network has been in place for over twenty years and Forum by Prometour has sent numerous groups over the last 10 years. DAY 7: LISSES / PARIS / LISSES (Thursday) After breakfast with your host family, take the RER to Paris. Visit a local Boulangerie and learn how croissants are made. Then, visit Philippe Auguste s Louvre and the Richelieu Wing, entirely furnished in the Second Empire style. See the galleries masterpieces, including the breath-taking Mona Lisa. Next, visit the gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame. Climb the towers to experience the view as well as a glimpse of the famous gargoyles. Later, spend some time discovering the famous Quartier Latin; see the Pantheon, the Sorbonne and the Luxembourg Garden. Return to your host family for dinner and night accommodation. DAY 8: LISSES / PARIS / LISSES (Friday) After breakfast with your host family, take the RER to Paris. This morning, visit the Musée d Orsay, see its extensive collection of 19 th and 20 th century art. In the afternoon, head for a pleasant walk through Place du Trocadéro and discover La Ville lumière from the third floor of the Tour Eiffel.
Later, board a glass-topped bateau mouche and enjoy a refreshing cruise on the Seine River. Return to Lisses for dinner with your host family. DAY 9: LISSES / VERSAILLES / LISSES (Saturday) After breakfast with your host family, depart by private motor coach to Versailles - the extravagant Palace built for the Sun King. Explore the Château de Versailles. See the opulent Grand Apartments and view the Opera and Royal Bedroom. Visit Marie-Antoinette s hamlet. Afterwards, wander around the elegantly landscaped gardens. Return to your host family for dinner and night accommodation. DAY 10: LISSES / PARIS / LISSES (Sunday) After breakfast with your host family, take the RER to Paris. Enjoy a guided tour of Opera Garnier. Built on the orders of Napoleon III and completed in 1875, it features golden statues, a Grand Staircase and sumptuous painted ceilings. Then take a stroll on the Champs-Elysées and climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Have some free time for lunch and to catch up on last minute souvenir shopping. This afternoon, head to Montmartre (known locally as La Butte). Climb the steps to reach the Sacré-Cœur, Montmartre s hilltop church and most famous landmark. Return to Lisses for dinner with your host family. DAY 11: LISSES / EURO DISNEY / LISSES (Monday) After breakfast with your host family, board your bus to Euro Disney. Today enjoy a full day of fun at Disney Land Paris! Return to Lisses for dinner with your host family. DAY 12: DEPART (Tuesday) After breakfast, say a fond au revoir to your host family and transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
