GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION If you have any registration questions, call the Phillips Recreation Center at 217-367-1544, ext. 1. Toilet training required. Exceptions include: Preschool Arts Camp, limited by disability. Participants (except those in Preschool Nature Camp) will be the correct age for camp enrollment by September 1, 2018. Camps may be canceled at any time if weather conditions become severe or threaten the safety of the campers and staff. No refunds are issued when camps are canceled due to weather. There is no camp on Wednesday, July 4 in celebration of Independence Day. Full payment is due at registration. An extended payment option is available to anyone who registers in person. Your child can be enrolled in a camp when all the following conditions are met:»» Registration and full payment is made by cash, check or credit card, or an extended payment form is turned in to the Phillips Recreation Center.»» Space remains in the camp session(s) requested. As camps fill, we create first come, first serve waiting lists. Please ask the registrar for details. I HAVE MORE THAN ONE CHILD IN CAMP, IS THERE A DISCOUNT? Families with more than one child attending any Urbana Park District camp during the same session receive a discount of $14 per session for each additional child. Multiple child discounts are available when registering over the phone or in person, not online. IS THERE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE? Requests for financial assistance must be received no later than two weeks before a program s deadline. See pages 5 & 6 for details. Space is not guaranteed, and a spot is not reserved until we receive payment or the $25 deposit. The regular camp payment schedule still applies. I RECEIVE ASSISTANCE FROM CCRS (CHILD CARE RESOURCE SERVICE). WHAT DO I NEED TO DO ABOUT CAMP REGISTRATION? Our staff can help you navigate CCRS payment for camps and get your child/ren registered. A $10 deposit per child, per week is required to save a spot when using CCRS payment plans. These deposits will be refunded at the end of the summer provided your child attends 80% (4 out of 5 days) of camp for each week enrolled. Extended camps are not covered by CCRS. Once your request is approved, CCRS will send you and our Office Service Specialist II a letter showing the number of days per week they will pay towards Urbana Park District day camps and any monthly co-pay that you will be responsible for paying. This letter or full camp payment is due by the Thursday before a camp begins in order for your child to be able to attend. Any monthly CCRS co-pay will need to be paid the Thursday prior to the first week of camp each month. If you have any questions, contact the Office Service Specialist II at 367-1544 Ext. 271 or by coming into the located at 505 W. Stoughton in Urbana. CAN I PAY FOR CAMP IN INSTALLMENTS? The Extended Payment Option is available when you register in person (online and phone registration is not available.) If you choose to pay in installments, a $25 per camper, per week, nonrefundable registration deposit is required. This deposit will be applied to the full payment of the camp fee. The remainder of the fee must be paid by pre-authorized credit card payment or pre-authorized automated withdrawal from a checking account. In addition to the registration form, you will complete an extended payment form authorizing the Urbana Park District to make scheduled withdrawals from your checking account or credit card. The payment plan is a set schedule established by the Urbana Park District. Your credit card or checking account will be debited two weeks before the first day of the camp session. If an automatic payment is declined for any reason, a $25 service fee will be assessed. The camp fee and the service fee must be paid by Wednesday of the same week to avoid your child being dropped from a camp program for nonpayment. There is a $25 nonrefundable deposit for every camp session. Refunds for the camp price, minus the $25 deposit, will be issued if requested at least two weeks prior to the camp start date. No refunds are issued when camps are canceled due to weather. HOW DO I TRANSFER MY CHILD FROM ONE CAMP TO ANOTHER? To transfer your child to another camp, space permitting, make the request at least two weeks prior to the start of the camp session. Any difference in fee is due at time of transfer. Champaign Urbana Special Recreation (CUSR) offers inclusion services for Urbana Park District programs. Upon an initial assessment, services that are deemed appropriate based on each individual will be provided. If needed, a one-on-one aide will work with your child. When registering, please fill in the ADA information section as needed on the registration form. Nature Camp Themes and Information Nature Camp has traditional summer camp activities that increase a child s appreciation for nature, community and the environment. Children are divided into separate camp groups by age and spend their days exploring the outdoors during weekly themed sessions. Leaders guide hands-on discovery, games, crafts, field trips and more. Each camper receives a Nature Day Camp T-shirt. Please dress your child for mess and bring a refillable water bottle daily. *Camp does not meet on July 4. Activities will be exciting and interactive, while physically and mentally challenging. This camp is held outdoors. Please bring a sack lunch, snack, and water bottle each day. The Champaign County Humane Society invites you to experience a week filled with petrelated games, lessons and crafts. Enjoy daily interactions with animal ambassadors and learn about their care in a fun and safe manner. Meet visitors from the community who work to help animals every day. The week will end with an experience at the Champaign County Humane Society! Snacks and beverages will be provided. Campers ages 6-8 meet in the morning, ages 9-12 meet in the afternoon. Dress your child in closed-toed shoes, long pants, and clothing that can get dirty. Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Participate in and lead daily camp activities while assisting counselors and children in Nature Day Camp. You will volunteer 15-20 hours per week, attend weekly CIT meetings and participate in ongoing training throughout the summer. Join the elite group of teens who gain experience and leadership skills that prepare them for future summer and part-time jobs. As a CIT, you make camp even more fun for the kids. Interested? Complete a CIT application, available at any park district office or online at www.urbanaparks.org. Candidates are selected through an application and interview process. Space is limited. Fee includes camp T-shirt, all training, supervision and field trips for the entire day camp season. Payment is due on acceptance into the program. Construction Camp Monday-Friday, August 6-10, 7:30am-5:30pm Ages: Preschool 3-4 Grade School 5-13 In this camp we will build, build, build! Make structures and usable items with a variety of materials, including Legos, Magnatiles, PVC pipes, bricks, wood, and more. You will be able to take some creations home and have fun (safely) deconstructing the others.
