Lions and Tigers of India Detailed Itinerary Jun 30/17 This may be the grandest wildlife adventure anywhere for those who are lovers of the BIG CATS - lions, tigers, and leopards! India is not typically known for having lions, as they are normally associated with an African safari. Lions at one time roamed from southern Africa all the way to India. That band no longer exists and today lions typically roam only south of the Sahara in south and east Africa. There is however a small pocket in northwestern India where lions still roam in the wild. This remote and seldom-visited region features Gir National Park where we will search for the rare Asian Lion. Our itinerary includes visits to three national parks in search of a myriad of wildlife including the Royal Bengal Tiger. Seeing a tiger in the wild must certainly rank as a true wildlife highlight for even the most seasoned traveler. We also search for a third big cat, near the area of Bera - the leopard. We challenge anyone to find a wildlife Facts & Highlights 20 land days Maximum 16 travelers Start in New Delhi, finish in Mumbai All meals included Includes 3 internal flights Search for tigers in Bandavgarh, Kanha, and Tadoba National Parks Search for lions in Gir National Park Search for leopards near Bera Explore the sites of New Delhi, Ahmadabad, and Mumbai Visit the famous Ramtek Temples Departure Dates & Price Nov 29 - Dec 18, 2017 - Feb 21 - Mar 12, 2018 - Nov 21 - Dec 10, 2018 - Activity Level: 1 $5995 USD $5995 USD $5995 USD Comfort Level: Some rough/dusty roads and long drives. Day 6 To Kanha National Park Today we depart for Kanha National Park where the lush sal and bamboo forests, grassy meadows, and ravines provided inspiration to Rudyard Kipling for his famous novel The Jungle Book. The Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh came into being in 1955 and forms the core of the Kanha Tiger Reserve, created in 1974 under Project Tiger. The stringent conservation programs and protection of the park s flora and fauna make it one of the most well maintained National Parks in Asia. We will have the evening to relax in these beautiful surroundings. Overnight in Kanha National Park. Day 7 Kanha National Park, Tiger Safari This morning we will go on a jeep safari to explore the beauty of Kanha National Park in hopes of spotting tigers roaming freely in the forest. We will also have an evening safari in search of tigers, where we can go deep into the forest for a true safari experience. Overnight in Kanha National Park. Day 8 To Tadoba National Park Sit back and enjoy the scenery today as we drive (approx 7-8 hours) to Tadoba National Park, one of the finest and largest national parks in Maharashtra state. This beautiful and wild paradise has abundant dry deciduous forests and lakes teeming with rich aquatic life. Upon arrival, have a relaxing evening and dinner. Overnight in Tadoba National Park. Day 9 Jeep Safaris in search of Royal Bengal Tiger We will enjoy both a morning and evening jeep safari in search of India s national animal, which is also one of the biggest and most beautiful cats in the BIG CAT family - the Royal Bengal Tiger. This afternoon we visit the famous Ramtek Temples, where the legendary Hindu God Lord Rama, rested while he was in exile. Overnight in Nagpur. Day 11 Fly to Udaipur Today we have a morning flight from Nagpur to Udaipur. Set in the Girwa Valley amidst the Aravalli Hills of south Rajasthan, Udaipur is a beautiful city - regarded by Indians and foreigners alike as one of the most romantic in India. It is a lovely city to explore with fairy tale white marble palaces, placid blue lakes, and green hills that create a feeling of serenity. Udaipur is undoubtedly an oasis of color in an arid region of India. Tonight we will enjoy dinner and a folk dance performance. Overnight in Udaipur. 5

Day 12 Jawai Dam, Rabari Village Life Today we drive to the area of Jawai Dam and visit the village of Bera, which is home to the Rabari Shepherds, a nomadic tribe of cattle herders. This area is also home to a big but very shy cat - the elusive leopard. The leopard roams in the wild here, which makes for an exciting safari. In the afternoon we will go for a village walk to meet the Rabari Shepherds and learn about their history and traditions. If time allows, we will go for evening safari. Overnight in Bera. Day 15 Sabarmati Ashram Enjoy an early morning heritage walk in the older parts of the city, followed by breakfast. Next, we drive to Sabarmati Ashram where Mahatma Gandhi lived for 12 years, along with his wife. The ashram has been declared a national monument by the Indian government in recognition of Gandhi and the activities that he carried out during his stay there. We will also visit Jama Masjid, one of the most magnificent mosques of India built with yellow sandstone reflecting both Hindu and Muslim architecture. Overnight in Ahmadabad. Day 16 To Sasan Gir National Park, Lion Safaris After breakfast we will begin a longer drive (approx 7 hrs) to Gir National Park. Sometimes the most educational moments are spent sipping a cold drink in a street market. 5. How do we travel during the tour? All local transportation, including 3 domestic flights, is included in the land price of the trip. Most of the transportation is by bus, although we also travel by boat, jeep and on foot. 6. What are our accommodations like? We always stay in good accommodations hotels all have private bath or shower. Accommodations have been chosen on the basis of location, atmosphere and local charm. 7. What about the weather? There are wide variations in climate in India with winter, spring, summer, monsoon and autumn experienced in all regions. February and March are very pleasant, with temperatures starting to heat up in April, and peaking in late May at around 100 F (38 C ). June to September bring the monsoon rains, followed by the October to December period that brings clear skies and cool weather. 8. When is payment due? A non-refundable deposit of $500 or 300 GBP (plus insurance if you require it) is due at time of booking and will reserve your place on the tour. Payment of the full land cost is due 100 days before departure. Cancellation charges are applicable and are outlined in the Terms & Conditions section of our brochure. 9.
