Erfurt is an old university city with a rich history dating back more than 1,200 years. Erfurt is known as the "many-towered city" for its numerous churches and is famous for the place where Martin Luther reputedly had his vision that lead to the Reformation. The architecture in Erfurt is extremely beautiful since it has lots of timbered houses ( Fachwerkhäuser ) and romantic streets. The city has a medieval atmosphere and it s great to walk around. Dresden, located in the East of Germany, is the capital of Sachsen. The City is also called "Florence at the Elbe" thanks to its idyllic location on the banks of the Elbe river, and its excellent examples of Baroque architecture. Dresden is a metropolis of art and culture, it has lots of world-class museums as well as wonderful palaces, parks and gardens.
