Last Sunday we had a great time on the museum tour and a great meal at the restaurant on out way home. The weather was on our side and the rain held off long enough to return home. Thanks Rita for all arrangements for the tour. Last month we attended the Show in Helen Georgia. I believe there are four clubs now that put on a great show every year and it is a fun time for all, looking forward to next year. I also took my 64 Spyder Coupe which did very in Concourse Thanks to a few guys from Kentucky who helped with some mechanical issues and the loading and unloading of the car. Hope to see all of those who attended Helen at the Corsa Convention next month. Our Recall will be here sooner than you think, June 10th. Another great show is planned under the direction of Dave Robinson and another good year is expected, looking forward to a great turnout. Father's Day Car Show, Scriba NY under the guidance of Lew Hallstead. Were looking forward to another terrific show at the Scriba NY FD. Beatrice will be in attendance this year Meeting will held next month on first Thursday hoping for a good turnout. Phil CNYCC PAGE 1

GEORGIA ROVING by Len Smith Only a few events since last time. Rain and a bout with a severe cold kept us from our monthly cruise-ins for the American Street Rodders in Hoschton (first Saturday in May) and the Maysville cruise-in (second Saturday in May) as well as the monthly swap meet for May. All was not lost, however. On April 22, some of the "breakfast bunch" and our spouses took our old cars on a cruise north to Cornelia to Fenders Diner, a 50s-themed eatery. There were five of us in our convoy and we made it up and back without any problems. I forgot to bring my camera, so no pictures. We had a good time and plan a few more cruises over the rest of the season. Nick and Jane Lombardo stopped in to see us on their way north so we could catch up on old times. On Friday April 28, we made an excursion to Helen to check out Springfest 2017. We didn't take a Corvair, since none of us is limber enough to climb in and out the back seat of a Corvair. We arrived in time to watch the practice for the autocross. I took a few photos of cars in the pits, and talked to a few of the competitors, one of whom gave Nick a ride in his racer. Nick and I then strolled through the swap meet, and broke for lunch. After lunch, we returned to watch the autocross. The course was much simpler than what Lew devises, but it was fun to watch. No casualties and everyone had a good time. The Concours and Car Display are held on Saturday, so we missed seeing many of the show cars. We also didn't see Phil on Friday, but found out that he won a trophy in the Concours. Good job, Prez. Sorry that we didn't hook up. See the newsletters from Corvair Atlanta and West Florida Corvair Club, among others, for more details. REMINDER May is dues renewal time. Don t forget to pay either at the meeting or mail them in if you haven t already. Thank you, Gloria PAGE 2

TIM S TECH TIME AND RAMBLIN S HELLO AGAIN from the little Corvair Shop in Memphis NY. Hello again. Things in the shop are sort of slow right now. I took a few days to repair the valve noise in the rampside. One valve was loose and the stem was chewed up. I think it was a problem from severe overheating on a trip on route 2 in Massachusetts. So I decided to change the heads for now. I took them to the machine shop for checking and redoing. Now I have 95HP heads on it, and they seem to be a great combination for street driving. It drives great now, even with low compression heads and oversize cylinders and the high performance cam. One interesting thing when I first started it up with the new heads, was timing needed to be advanced a lot. I have driven it @ 150 miles so far on this setup, so not sure of major changes in gas economy. I know that this is a nice setup. So, do not overlook the 95HP motors out there. I am still sorting out wiring on the Cord project, just had to take a break to repair the Rampside and other things here. No diagrams to work with, and no connector housings on the new harness, make it interesting, especially under the dash. When I get done with it, it will be much better under the dash. It was just a tangle of wires when I started. The other big news here is, I sold the Crampside project! I had a verbal offer from Michagan, but it dragged on, and he wanted to lower the already low price, so a MUCH better situation popped up. Cash in hand and it will leave here today. Also, this guy is local, and very capable of finishing this very interesting vehicle. It looks like the Waterloo NY (home of Memorial day) car show and other events will be watered on this year. Weather map looks ugly so far. So we will drive over there, look around, collect the dash plaque, and come home. I hope the other shows (including Recall!) have better weather outlooks. This is lots of sadness around the shores of the lakes this year., so I hope the Fairhaven show on Fourth of July weekend is not affected. We enjoy that one every year. Make sure you register early for the shows we attend. It also helps if we get to shows early to group club cars up. This makes the shows more enjoyable, and picture taking. A few of us enjoyed the Ward O Hara farm museum tour and lunch at the Old Erie Restaurant last weekend. There is a lot to see there! Recall is looming! And lots of good things going on to prepare for it. Just pray for good weather. One of my planned projects for this coming winter is a complete redesign of the club motor display trailer. I am going to change the motor to a car motor that came from Ron s project car that I parted out. I plan on going thru it, cleaning and detailing it, making all hardware rustproof, and really seal up all leak areas. I also plan on a better dash control area. I hope to make it something that will look good, and run good, at car shows. Judy and Dan burrows are getting the Rampy back from a very nice body job soon. It sure looks good! I have to change the bad torque converter when it comes home. I hope we have another successful Recall to continue the legacy started by our founders We hope to see you all at our next meeting.
