Guided tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mines This awe-inspiring mine complex was one of the very first monuments to be placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Approximately 30 minutes by coach outside Krakow, this is one of Poland s biggest highlights 1.2 million visitors come annually. See life size sculptures carved by hand from salt, including a stunning chapel and a statue of Pope John Paul II. During World War II the Nazis used the mine for warrelated production. There are hundreds of kilometres of passageways but don t worry you won t be walking that far! Notable visitors include Nicolaus Copernicus and Bill Clinton. Our own guide will dazzle us in a tour lasting approximately 2.5 hrs. Whilst in the mines you will walk for about 2km in total in fairly relaxed stages. Zakopane Often referred to as the Winter Capital of Poland Zakopane has only 28,000 inhabitants. Located at the foot of the Tatra Mountains on the Polish/Slovak border the town boasts some of Poland s most stunning scenery. On this morning tour of the area you will also visit the nearby village of Chocholow with pretty wooden architecture where local crafts and traditional trades are still on display. Polish Highlander Folklore Show (with dinner) The local Polish minority highland populations put on a show of folk songs, dance and traditional music. The costumes are colourful and embellished with embroidery of patterns that date back hundreds of years. Morskie Oko Just a short drive from Zakopane you will board horse-drawn carts that will take you on a scenic ride up to Lake Morskie Oko (Sea Eye). Morskie Oko is the largest and fourth deepest lake in the Tatra Mountains.
