Event Introduction Weymouth Carnival has taken place in Weymouth for over 50 years in order to raise funds for local charities and good causes. The Carnival aims to deliver maximum enjoyment for residents and visitors through the diversity and delivery of activities in a safe and secure environment. For the first time ever the 2016 Carnival will take place over two days Tuesday 16th & Wednesday 17th August from 10:00 To 22.30. The event is run by Weymouth Carnival and Event Club CIO Charity Number: 1151696 Our Charity Objective To advance, promote, encourage & develop appreciation of & participation in Carnival, their traditions, music & crafts in particular - but not exclusively - through the provision of arts workshops, activities & events throughout the year. Along with the promotion & organisation of an annual festival & Carnival in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the condition of life for the community of Weymouth & ortland. Sponsorship Carnival is a big day for the town and is expected to raise thousands of pounds to support the development of local cultural activities, encouraging and promoting social inclusion, equality and diversity in the community Without the kind support from businesses the Carnival would not take place and we feel, as do others, that it would be a great shame to lose this prestigious event which promotes the town and provides individuals/groups with a great opportunity to work together in putting on a great show. Due to promotional and printing requirements the following deadlines for confirmation of Sponsorship will apply: rior to Monday 18th July all sponsorship benefits apply. rocession Entry We want to put on an amazing show and for this we need your help. We would like your Business/Club/Group to create a walking entry or float. Taking part will have many benefits; team building, having fun, raising your profile, and not least, helping Weymouth Carnival to raise thousands of pounds for local charities. We hope you will get creative and work together to make something special, that you will be proud of. From experience, the more effort that is put in, the more your group will benefit from the experience. erhaps your business or group would like to link up with a local charity to promote their good cause. You do not need to spend a great deal; you can use uddletown Scrap Store and local Charity Shops for materials. Improvise and recycle. The main things you will need are imagination and creativity, and they are free! There are many prizes to be won including Cups for Best Community Entry, Best Walking Entry, Best Individual Costume, Best Children s Costume, and a new cup for The Most Imaginative Costume. So come and join the fun. All you need to do is look at the guidance notes below, then get together with your Carnival Group to decide on your theme and complete and return your entry form. The cavalcade will take a trip along the cleared procession route before members split of and assist in the marshalling. Each torch is 5, with 1 of each sale going towards Weldmar Hospice Trust. The estimated start time for the procession is 8pm and spans the length of Weymouth Beach.
