Departure from Miami Int l airport on Alitalia Airlines nonstop flight to Rome, Italy. 25 FRI 26 ROME/THESSALONIKI, GREECE. Departure to Thessaloniki, Greece. Arrive Thessaloniki. Welcome, assistance and transfer to the hotel. Short briefing about your tour and rest of the day at leisure Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki SAT THESSALONIKI. Breakfast at the hotel. 27 The day starts with a panoramic tour of Thessaloniki dominated by the massive walls of Theodosius. Paul preached in Thessaloniki and wrote the letters to Thessalonians. We will see the famous White tower, the roman market, the Arch of Galeriousand, we will visit the impressive Basilica of St. Demetrius, St. Sofia and St. George Church We continue our visit to the Archaeological museum of Thessaloniki where, among other things, interesting findings from the excavations of Vergina are exhibited. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki. SUN THESSALONIKI / KAVALA / AMPHIOPOLIS / PHILIPPI / THESSALONIKI 28 After our breakfast, we depart for the drive towards Kavala (the Biblical Neapolis), the port where Paul, Sylas, Timothy and Luke first set foot in Europe. We continue our drive to Philippi. On the way we pass by Amphiopolis (visited by Paul) where we shall stop for a while and admire the impressive Lion statue. We continue to arrive in Philippi where Paul delivered his first sermon in Europe, sowing the seeds of Christianity. We will see where Paul and Sylas were imprisoned, we will admire the ruins of one of the largest churches ever constructed, and we walk on Via Egnatia, and visit the ancient market (Agora). A little further away we will have the chance to walk right next to the creek where Lydia the first Christian convert in Europe was baptized. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki. MON THESSALONIKI / VERIA / KALAMBAKA.. 29 After breakfast we depart to Kalambaka. On the way we pass by Veria (the Biblical Berea) one of Paul s stop, where a Byzantine mosaic commemorates his preaching. Later we drive towards Vergina for a visit to the Royal Tombs of King Philip the father of The Alexander the Great. After some free time for lunch, continue to Kalambaka for dinner and overnight.
TUE KALAMBAKA / METEORA / KALAMBAKA 30 After breakfast, we visit the Meteora Monasteries. Among striking scenery, perched on top of huge rocks, that seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless monasteries where we can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. We will visit two monasteries and we will return back to the town of Kalambaka for a lunch break. Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka. OCTOBER: ---------------- WED KALAMBAKA / DELPHI / ATHENS. 01 Breakfast. Departure to Delphi. Arrive and we star explore Delphi, the center of the ancient world, whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic world. On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo. Visit the site and the museum. Lunch break and continue to Athens. Dinner and overnight in Athens. THU ATHENS / CORINTH CANAL, ANCIENT CORINTH/ATHENS 02 Breakfast. We will take a panoramic tour of Athens, passing by the House of Parliament and the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Presidential Palace, Panathinaikon stadium, Hadrian s Arch, and other main Landmarks of Athens. Soon we will arrive under the sacred rock of ACROPOLIS. Here we will visit the ruins of PARTHENON, the Erechtheion and the Propylaea. On our exit we shall stop at Mars Hill where PAUL delivered his well-know sermon, and star descending towards the Agora, the ancient market where Paul Spoke to the Athenians. After lunch break, we depart following the coastal road along the Saronic Gulf towards the Corinth canal. A short stop at the canal for refreshments and picture taking and we continue on to the site of Ancient Corinth. Here is where PAUL lived for at least two years and wrote the first and second letters to the Corinthians. Under the Acropolis of Corinth (Akrocorinthios) we shall visit the ruins of the ancient city where PAUL worked with Aquila and Priscilla, the agora (market) here Paul s trial by Gallio took place, the temple of Apollo and the fountain of Peirene. We shall drive to Lechaion and Cechreae the ancient port where PAUL sailed away from Corinth. Return drive to Athens for dinner and overnight. FRI ATHENS / LAVRION PORT / ON CRUISE. Departure: 12:00 03 After breakfast, we will be transferred to the Lavrion port to board our cruise ship for an exciting cruise in the Aegean waters and Turkey. SAT ISTANBUL, TURKEY / ON CRUISE. Arriving: 09:00; Departure: 19:00 04 Our first port of call is ISTANBUL, the only city in the world that straddles two continents: Europe and Asia. Istanbul, or Constantinople as it was once called, was founded in 667 B.C. It was the capital of the Roman and then Byzantine Empire, the Latin and finally the Ottoman Empire. This excursion is a Religious visit to Orthodox churches and Greek Patriarchate. The Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, it is the pre-eminent the all Orthodox Churches and it is one of the oldest centers of Christianity. Church of Hagia Sophia A symbol that became a museum: It was a symbol of Istanbul (Constantinople) during both the Byzantine and the Ottoman periods. The current extructure was erected in the 6 th Century. Chora Church Gallery of Byzantine mosaics: It is considered as the second most important Byzantine monument in Istanbul after Hagia Sophia and one of the largest galleries of Byzantine mosaics internationally. Grand Bazaar: Also called Kapali Carsi, which means Covered Bazaar. It is one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world. Spice Bazaar: It is also called the Egyptian Bazaar. From here you can pick up supplies of spices and confectionary, a great Varity of nuts, cheeses, caviar, coffee and of course souvenirs. This shore excursion is included
SUN KUSADASI, TURKEY / ON CRUISE. Arriving: 15:30; Departure: 22:00 05 In the afternoon, we will arrive at KUSADASI, the Gateway port to the most important biblical site Ephesus. Follow we will participate of the Virgin Mary s house and the Ancient Ephesus tour. We drive through the colorful town of Kusadasi to reach Mt. Koressos. It is here where we will visit the humble chapel that lies on the site of the little house where the Virgin Mary spent her last days, Continue on to Ancient Ephesus where will walk through the Magnesian Gate, the entrance to the ancient city of Ephesus.
