FRANCE PARIS EN FAMILLE ET LE SUD 10 days / 8 nights March 31 to April 9, 2017 (Travel dates to be confirmed upon flight booking)
DAY 1: USA / FRANCE (Friday) Fly through the night to Paris, capital of France. DAY 2: PARIS / LISSES (Saturday) Welcome to France! Meet your Forum Tour Manager at the airport in Paris. Board your private bus to Lisses/Bondoufle and meet your host family. Dinner and night accommodation with your host family. LISSES EN FAMILLE Located 35 km south of Paris, the family network is made up of families living in Lisses and in surrounding towns (Bondoufle, Evry among others). The home of the family network consists of typical French towns that belong to the same community or communauté d agglomération. Paris is easily accessible by RER train, on the D Line, from Evry-Courcouronnes station to Châtelet-Les Halles (40 min. total). Students will stay 2 per family and contact information of the family will be sent approximately 2 to 4 weeks prior to departure. Host families are usually located 5-15 minutes from the station (by bus). The Family network has been in place for over 20 years and Forum by Prometour has sent numerous groups over the last 10 years. DAY 3: LISSES / PARIS / LISSES (Sunday) After breakfast with your host family, take the RER to Paris. Visit Philippe Auguste s Louvre and the Richelieu Wing, entirely furnished in the Second Empire s style. See the galleries masterpieces, such as the breath-taking Mona Lisa. Next, visit the gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame. Climb the towers to experience the view as well as a glimpse of the famous gargoyles. Later, spend some time discovering the famous Quartier Latin; see the Pantheon, the Sorbonne and the Luxembourg Garden. Return to your host family for dinner and night accommodation. DAY 4: LISSES / PARIS / LISSES (Monday) After breakfast with your host family, meet with your tour director and take the RER to Paris. Take a stroll on the Champs-Elysées and climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Enjoy a hands-on activity at Choco-Story. Learn from an expert chocolatier how to make praline-filled chocolate treats that you can take with you! Learn about the fascinating 4000-year chocolate history during a visit to Choco-Story Museum.
Later, explore the Marais Quarter with your Forum Tour Manager and test your knowledge during a Treasure Hunt. The neighbourhood, which takes its name from the marshes on which it was originally built, has long been the home of Parisian aristocrats. Then, head up to the highest point in Paris: Montmartre (known locally as La Butte). Climb the steps to reach the Sacré-Cœur, Montmartre s hilltop church and most famous landmark. Return to Lisses for dinner with your host family. DAY 5: LISSES / PARIS / LISSES (Tuesday) After breakfast with your host family, meet with your tour director and take the RER to Paris. This morning, head to the Musée d Orsay to see its extensive collection of 19 th and 20 th century art. Next, have a pleasant walk through Place du Trocadéro and discover La Ville lumière from the third floor of the Tour Eiffel. Later, board a glass-topped bateau mouche and enjoy a refreshing cruise on the Seine River. Return to Lisses for dinner with your host family. DAY 6: LISSES / VERSAILLES / LISSES (Wednesday) After breakfast with your host family, take the train to Versailles, the extravagant Palace built for the Sun King. Explore the Château de Versailles. See the opulent Grand Apartments and view the Opera and Royal Bedroom. Afterwards, wander around the elegantly landscaped gardens. To complete your visit, head to Marie-Antoinette s hamlet. Return to your host family for dinner and night accommodation. DAY 7: LISSES / PARIS / AVIGNON (Thursday) After saying a fond au revoir to your host family, meet with your group and head to the train station in Paris to board a High-Speed TGV Train to Avignon. On arrival, meet your local guide for a guided tour of the city. Explore the café-lined place de l'horloge, Then, visit Palais des Papes with its massive stone vaults, battlements and sluices for pouring hot oil on attackers. After see Pont d Avignon, famous for the song of the same name. Do you know it? Dinner with your group at a local restaurant. Night accommodation in Avignon. DAY 8: AVIGNON / PONT DU GARD / AIX EN PROVENCE (Friday) Breakfast at your hotel. Board your private motor coach and visit the Pont du Gard. Continue with a visit to the Waterchannels!
Then, enjoy lunch at restaurant Les Terrsasses After, head to Aix-En-Provence. Drop your bags at your hotel on arrival and visit Atelier Cézanne. See the studio of the son of Aix. With your Tour Manager go on a Paul Cezanne Walking Tour: Sur les pas de Cézanne. Dinner and night accommodation in Aix-En-Provence. DAY 9: AIX EN PROVENCE / CASSIS / MARSEILLE (Saturday) Today, visit a local school and get to interact with local students your age. After free time for lunch, board your motor coach to Marseille, the capital of Provence. Marseille is a port city in southern France which has been a crossroads of immigration and trade since its founding by the Phoenicians in 600 B.C.E. Stop in Cassis. See the Mediterranean Sea and hop on a boat to explore the spectacular Calanques, a geologic formation in the form of a deep valley with steep sides, typically of limestone, in part submerged by the sea. After continue to Marseilles and check-in at your centrally located hotel. Enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Night accommodation in Marseilles. DAY 10: DEPART (Sunday) After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
