For history buffs, you ll delight in seeing many of Europe s historical sites. In Rome, visit the Roman Forum, dating back to the 7th century BC, and the Colosseum, completed in the 1st century AD. In Lucerne, see the Chapel Bridge, built in 1333 as part of the city s fortifications and now the oldest preserved wooden bridge in Europe. Or how about the medieval houses and Golden Roof in Innsbruck, built around 1500 for Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I? Or if you are more interested in art and architecture, you ll enjoy the experiences and treasures offered on this tour. Visit Florence, known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and often referred to as the art capital of Italy. A highlight of Florence is the magnificent east door of the Baptistry of St. John, with the gilded bronze doors depicting scenes from the Old Testament. The doors got their nickname Gates of Paradise from Michelangelo, who said the 12 bronze reliefs were so fine that they would grace the entrance of paradise. Of course, no traveler to Europe should miss the distinct architecture of Paris, and on this tour, you ll have plenty of time to explore Paris famous architectural sites. Itinerary Day 1 London, England Brussels, Belgium Leave London in the early morning and head through the lush English countryside to the Channel port, where you board your FERRY for the Continent. Here, your Tour Director and luxury coach meet you, and you re off across Belgium to Brussels. (B) Day 2 Brussels Luxembourg Lucerne Area, Switzerland Extraordinary vistas on the drive south today! Take a break in Luxembourg, capital of the world's only sovereign Grand Duchy, then drive through the wine-growing farmland of Alsace before crossing the border into Switzerland. Finally, approach the Swiss Alps before arriving in the Lucerne area. (B) Day 3 Lucerne Area Liechtenstein Innsbruck Area, Austria This morning, take advantage of the Lucerne visit and maybe join the optional excursion to the top of one of the famous mountains. Later, head for Vaduz in the tiny but very wealthy Principality of Liechtenstein. To the east are the picture-perfect villages of Austria s Vorarlberg and, once you re through the Arlberg Tunnel, the scenic splendor of the Inn Valley. Overnight in the Innsbruck area, with time for a walk in the city center and to see the GOLDEN ROOF. (B,D) Day 4 Innsbruck Area Venice Area, Italy Enjoy vistas of the Tyrolean Alps and the foothills of the Dolomites while crossing Brenner Pass into Italy. Reach Venice by private MOTORBOAT to view the BRIDGE OF SIGHS and DOGES' PALACE plus ST. MARK'S SQUARE before the visit to a GLASSBLOWING WORKSHOP. Don't miss out on the optional gondola serenade, gliding through century-old canals. (B,D) Day 5 Venice Area Assisi Rome An interesting drive southward, cutting across the Po plain, then through the gentle Umbrian hills to Assisi, where St. Francis was born in 1182. Visit the world-famous BASILICA with its beautiful frescoes by Giotto, then head for Rome. (B) Day 6 Rome Today's sightseeing of the Eternal City with a Local Guide features ST. PETER'S SQUARE, and includes an inside visit of the COLOSSEUM and the ROMAN FORUM. (B) Day 7 Rome Florence Montecatini Say "Arrivederci, Roma" this morning as you drive northwards through lovely Tuscan countryside to reach Florence in the afternoon. On the included walking tour with a Local Guide, discover the landmarks of this Renaissance city, like Piazza Signoria with the Loggia dei Lanzi, Palazzo Vecchio, and the breathtaking cathedral on Piazza del Duomo. Overnight in the spa town of Montecatini. (B) Day 8 Montecatini Pisa Èze, France French Riviera Stop in Pisa to see the Leaning Tower and the SQUARE OF MIRACLES. Bypassing the great port of Genoa, head northwest, getting glimpses of the Italian and French Rivieras. Visit one of the famous PERFUME WORKSHOPS in Èze before reaching your overnight destination on the lovely French Riviera. (B) Day 9 French Riviera Aix-En-Provence Lyon Area Leave the French Riviera this morning and head inland, crossing sun-drenched Provence. Stop

in Aix-en-Provence, then travel into the vineyards of the Rhône Valley. Overnight in the Lyon area. (B,D) Day 10 Lyon Area Beaune Paris Vistas of famous vineyards on the way to Beaune, famous for wines such as Chambertin and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Its Hôtel-Dieu is one of the oldest hospitals in Europe. Head for the final excitement of Paris, the most sparkling city in the world. Time to enjoy an optional cabaret show. (B) Day 11 Paris One full day to explore the city that s known throughout the world for its fashion, art and museums, delicious food, and joie de vivre. Included sightseeing with a local expert shows off many of the best-known Parisian sights: La Sorbonne, Arc de Triomphe, Opéra, Madeleine, the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramid near the Louvre, the Invalides, and Champs Elysées. (B) Day 12 Paris London, England Relax and let the countryside whiz by on the road north to the coast, where you board your Channel ferry. CITY: Brussels Evening City Sightseeing A guided evening sightseeing tour lasting approx. 3 hrs. first by coach to see the Congress Column and tomb of unknown soldier, the Parliament, Royal Park and theatre, Arch of Cinquantinaire, the EU buildings, the Academy Palace, the Royal Palace and Royal Square, St. Michael's Cathedral and Palace of Justice. Then on foot to see statue of "Mannekin Pis" where a stop will be made at a typical Brussels taverne for an included drink of either Belgian beer or soft drink. The journey is a combination of an old-time funicular, which has romantic 100- year-old carriages (1893) and the modern cable car. Once on the summit you will have an enchanting view of 100 kilometers of the Alpine chain and a view of 10 Swiss lakes. There is a sun terrace with a fabulous panorama and a relaxation area. Scenic Lake Cruise An hour's guided cruise on the most beautiful lake in Switzerland gives you an introduction to this lovely city from a completely different aspect. Gondola Serenade One of the highlights of a trip to Europe and something not to be missed during your visit to Venice is a gondola serenade. The gondola ride either takes place in the morning or the afternoon and lasts approximately 30 minutes when during this time you can relax whilst cruising not only on the Grand Canal but also down many small canals to see Venice from the water. During the gondola ride a local musician will serenade you with the traditional romantic music of Italy. Approximate value: 40 EUR per person CITY: Rome Roman Fine Treasures Departing from the hotel around 16.00 hrs you will be taken by coach to Lungotevere Marzio where you will disembark to start the walking sightseeing tour with a local guide to see some of the many treasures of Rome. First Piazza Navona, where there will be an inside visit of the Church of St. Louis of the French, which was designed and built between 1518 and 1589 and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, to St. Denis the Areopagite and king of France, St. Louis IX. The church's most famous item is the cycle of paintings in the Contarelli Chapel painted by Caravaggio, which represent the life of St. Matthew. Then a visit to one of the best-preserved Roman buildings, the Pantheon, which was built as a temple to all the gods of Ancient Rome and almost 2,000 years after it was built its dome is still the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome. Return slowly back to the starting point where you will be given some free time for dinner before being taken back to the hotel by coach. Either before or after dinner you will have an orientation drive to probably include Castel Sant' Angelo, Palace of Justice, Mausoleum of Augustus, Aurelian walls, Villa Borghese, Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini and Via Nazionale.Dinner will be taken at one of the local restaurants and you can sample a delicious 3 course menu with dessert including local wine and mineral water plus coffee or tea. Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel On this fascinating excursion with a local guide you can stroll through the Vatican Museum and marvel at Michaelangelo's famous creation in the Sistine Chapel. The Vatican Museum houses over 2000 rooms and 9 miles of the most extensive collections of art in the world. The Museums are brilliantly decorated and brim over with treasures and history and the local guide will share with you the stories and secrets contained within the Museum's walls. In the Sistine Chapel you can marvel at Michaelangelo's masterpiece, which is perhaps the greatest example of art anywhere and certainly the largest contiguous body by one painter. There are also some lesser masterpieces in the Sistine Chapel which are also worth seeing. The farm was completely renewed and the production of the wine and olive oil are open to visitors with traditional Tuscan hospitality. During the winter season the old wine cellar becomes a warm and welcoming dining room. In spring and autumn, weather permitting, one can dine outside and enjoy the warmth of the first or last sunbeams whilst in the summer the ancient surrounding trees offer a cool shelter and the outside lamps create a magical setting. You can sample a good selection of local Tuscan dishes together with a tasting of locally produced wines plus mineral water, coffee and Italian liquer. Charges not included in the land vacation price: airfare to and from the start of your vacation; airline baggage fees including checked and/or excess baggage fees; Federal inspection fees for the Federal U.S. Customs and Immigrations; agricultural tax; other per person taxes imposed by government entities; applicable cruise taxes, fees, fares and port charges; passports; visas and vaccinations; transfers; tips to your Tour or Cruise Director, Local Host, driver, Local Guides, and/or ships' crew; gratuities on ferries, trains, and cruise ships; laundry; telephone; minibar; alcohol, beverages, and food outside of the contracted menu as presented at a hotel or restaurant (these extra items will be billed to you before leaving the hotel, ship, or restaurant); additional excursions and activities not listed as 'included' in the itinerary; porterage at airports or train stations; Travel Protection premiums; and all other items of a personal nature.
