THE WOMEN S EURO-ARABIAN NORTH POLE EXPEDITION 2018 Shifting Ice In April 2018, a unique team of women from across Europe and the Arabian Peninsula will ski together to the top of the world. -40 C Backbreaking effort and desperate cold await the expedition on their 100km journey across the shifting pack ice of the Arctic Ocean to 90 North, the North Geographic Pole. By overcoming this adversity as a team, the expedition aims to demonstrate the importance of greater intercultural understanding and exchange, while at the same time highlighting the capability of women. A record-making expedition of personal, national and global firsts Several team members will be the first person from their nation to ski to the North Pole. The women will return to their home countries as role models to inspire others to reach beyond the expectation of others and be true global citizens. United Together at the ends of the Earth
Reaching Beyond the Expectation of Others The team is a diverse group of real women - handpicked to represent all ages and backgrounds - coming together to tackle the immense mental and physical challenges of the Arctic. Surviving on lightweight dehydrated rations and melted snow, the team will sleep in tents on the ice and pull sledges containing all the food and equipment they will need. They will rely on each other to navigate themselves safely to the top of the World. Women in action highlighting the need for change The Arctic is an environment that needs protection from a global community. Ida Olsson Sweden A 32-year old wilderness and adventure guide working in Svalbard and the Arctic North, kayaking in summer and snowmobiling in winter. Nataša Briški Slovenia A journalist of 20-years experience and a social media aficionado. Coming from one of the coldest parts of Slovenia, sport is part of her DNA. 42. Stephanie Solomonides Cyprus Working for an investment bank, 33-year-old Stephanie is already the first Cypriot to have skied to the South Pole and will be helping with the team training.
