NORTHEAST GEORGIA COUNCIL SCOUT SHOW 2013 APRIL 26 27, 2013
The 2013 Northeast Georgia Council Scout Show is scheduled to be held at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, April 26-27, 2013. Goals for the 2013 Event: Provide fun, safe environment for Scout units to exhibit skills and activities, plus advancement opportunities. Expanded program opportunities for participants. Encouraging vendors from outside the Scouting family to participate. Increasing participation of Scouting Alumni. Increasing public awareness of Scouting and its opportunities for youth. Hard copy registration will be accepted. The Fee Structure for the Show is: Camping $10 per person 2 nights (includes patch) $5 per person 1 night Saturday admission Scout or Scouter in uniform Admission with Camp Card Patches $ 4 per person No Charge No Charge-up to 4 people $ 3 each All Units should check in with the Scout Show Headquarters at the Main Exhibit Building to confirm their site. All campsites and exhibit sites will be assigned by the event staff.
Vehicles: Vehicles will be allowed in the Fairgrounds to carry equipment to campsites and to facilitate exhibit set-up beginning Friday evening at 5:00 PM. Vehicles will not be allowed to remain inside the fence once they are unloaded. All vehicles must be out of the area by 8:45PM on Friday night. The gates will be open at 7:00 AM on Saturday morning to accommodate those units and exhibitors arriving then. Vehicles must be removed from the fairgrounds to the parking lot by 9:00 AM. Vehicles will be allowed into the fairgrounds after 4:30 PM on Saturday for those units not camping Saturday night. Exhibits: All units attending the Scout Show are expected to prepare an exhibit or activity that can be displayed and enjoyed by visitors and other Scouts. These should display skills and be interactive wherever possible. If the exhibit displays skills associated with advancement (i.e. a merit badge or belt loop) Scouts should be prepared to demonstrate and assist other Scouts in performing the skills. All exhibits should follow the Guide to Safe Scouting for safety. Units may not sell food due to health and safety concerns. Units will not sell anything or conduct fundraising at the Scout Show. Event staff will consider requests for specific sites by units, but final assignment will be made by the staff. Facilities: The buildings and facilities of the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds are being used for this event. Buildings will be open Friday evening after 5:00PM for set-up. All exhibit buildings will be open at 7:00 AM on Saturday and closed at 4:30 PM on Saturday. There will be no access to any building, other than the restroom building, after 4:00 PM on Saturday. Meals: There will be a concession stand available on Saturday, during the show hours, for the purchase of food hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, BBQ and snack foods. Limited concessions will be available during the movie on Friday night. Units camping for the event may cook in their campsites, but no ground fires are allowed. Cleanup of cooking gear may not be done in the restroom facility. Awards: Awards will be given to units for Best Exhibits, Best Gateways in Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing, and Exploring categories at the closing ceremonies. Parking: All vehicles will be parked in the main parking lot off Sugarloaf Parkway.
Medical: There will be a First Aid station at the Main Exhibit Building. Camping units should provide their own first aid capability in their campsite. Security: Explorer units, working with Law Enforcement Sponsors, will provide security patrols within the fairgrounds.
